It is both ridiculous and awesome at the same time.
Factory EFI and 22 mpg. I get its not for everyone!

So, let me get this straight. You have a titled Ford, that you want to change to a Dodge, which is NOT the Dodge that is now sitting on that Ford.Nope it's a legit question. I just picked up a weird car. A general lee built on a Panther (ford) chasis, like the "jump cars". So it's titled as a Ford, but with some coronet parts...And I live in a smog state and this thing is far from being smog compliant.

Man I was so excited... that dude is ..."difficult".
It’s already a rebuild, so if it has a vin# that should already be valid.Nope it's a legit question. I just picked up a weird car. So I'm considering completing the conversion to a charger, with an actual VIN. I kinda love it. It has a 5 speed, and as dorky as the general lee is, people love it and honk and wave everywhere it goes.

Yes, my car has a vin and title that match. All good. It’s already a rebuild, so if it has a vin# that should already be valid.
Things I know about so far:I have a 2000 Vic and I love that thing, I kicked around the idea of building one of those combos, won’t deny it. Just what’s changed preventing it from being smogged as a Vic?
PRISONMight be a random question, but what are 68-69 Charger Dash and VINs going for?
I'm considering a construction project, and am wondering if it's a cost prohibitive thing, or if it's fairly common?
Thanks!
I like the idea because I'm not interested in passing a car off as something its not, I still correct people when they call my Coronet a Charger. All I really care about is if its cool looking to me and if I can drive the snot out of it, but that means on road. I wouldn't do it to a solid car, but give me a charger that has its bottom half rotted away and I would rather do the swap than try to rebuilt it back to stock. The car is a vehicular version of a transgender. It is not a Charger, it never will be titled as a Charger.
For the sake of stunts and off pavement fun, I think it is great because it is a LOT cheaper than an original Charger.
To try to pass the car off as something that it is NOT, that is not cool.
While I'm one of the first to criticize CALIFORNIA policies, this car started out as a Ford and always will be one. It was built after the model year 1975 so it has to retain it's original emission equipment and all functions have to remain operational.
That emission rule is what prevents me from buying and building any 1976 and newer car.
You have two choices....pony up and make the car pass a CA emissions test OR register it in Nevada/Oregon/Arizona.
Federal law states this as fact no matter what some bowlegged, tobacco chewin small town cop tells you.
Sorry, dude. You dont get to pick what your car will be titled as. Federal law states this as fact no matter what some bowlegged, tobacco chewin small town cop tells you.
This is exactly who I was thinking of.View attachment 1836886 " Ehhh... whatcha say ? "
