What combination will fit Ram charger hood

Does anyone know the height of the carb pad for the stock manifold?
What I found was 3.65".

I have a stock 4 barrel intake sitting on a shelf. How would you measure it since the bottom is angled?

Check the link below, they measure it with it sitting flat on a bench and then measure at the centre of the carb pad (dimension Ch on the drawing)
See the second drawing how its done with a straight edge, measure in front and behind and the average of these measurements will be the carb pad height.

From Edelbrock's site The Performer RPM pad height is 5.35", which, is 1.7" taller than stock.

5.35-1.7=3.65

I almost forgot I took these photos with the Weiand 8009 and Edelbrock Performer RPM sitting next to each other on a table top. I used a square to measure the difference in pad height; roughly 1 1/4".

Thx for the good info!
Could not be shown any clearer.

So with a Weiand 8009 I get even a bit more clearance the original.
I might need that for the carb actually, my Holley will be bigger (higher) then the original carb I guess.

Looks like the CH4B is even harder to get as it is not produced anymore, and if it's sold you could buy a 6 barrel setup for the same price I guess.

You selling that Weiand intake by any chance? :)

I have a CH4B and a stock manifold. I had the Weiand powder coated and installed it last weekend. My car is being painted with the new ramcharger hood. If the Weiand fits, which it should, I will sell the remaining intakes. Shipping from the US to the Netherlands will be your biggest cost, though.

If the Weiand fits I am sure I can make the CH4B work as well.
I would be happy to buy it of you.
Shipping will be expensive, but it will be nearly impossible to find a Weiand or CH4B in Europe

The paint shop will have my car for 2-3 weeks before I can install the airbox and check hood clearance.

@Wietse this work for you?

I’m in the same predicament. Trying to decide if I need to ditch the intake or ditch the Ramcharger.

I’m leaning towards finding an intake / carb configuration that works just curious what route you ended up going.

I did some searching for a Weiand intake but they are rare or expensive for a used piece with damage etc.
On the other hand, going back to a "short" intake and a original style carb will drop the power output as well.
With the currently installed camshaft i think mine will run like **** on a stock style intake. (quite aggressive cam, have no specs though)

Adding all costs together, reducing engine power and with a chance it will not run properly made me decide to drop the ramcharger.

Did you guys re read all the mag manifold tests?

Yes, i did read up on them and know the difference between the individual intakes is not massive by itself.
But take in consideration i will have to change back carb as well for clearance issues to fit the ram charger assembly under the hood.
As far as i know the 4 barrel 4150 type Holley carb will need to be swapped as well.

Hey all,

This came across the forum quite a lot during search but did not really find a thread where they were using my combination, so therefore I created a new one.

My car, '69 Coronet R/T with 440 4-barrel engine came with the N96 option, only the dual hood scoop is left on the hood and the Ramcharger ducting below the hood is missing.
At the moment the engine has a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake with a Holley 4150 4-barrel 750cfm carb on the top.
Most likely this is why someone removed the Ramcharger assembly to get it to fit, but I would like to build that back but I don't want to loose the Holley carb.
I already found that the Performer RPM is too high to use for this (5.30"), so I was wondering someone drives a certain setup with the carburator?
I did see that the older model "Performer" intake is around 1" (4.35") lower but I am not sure if that will give enough clearance.
Maybe there is a intake available with stock size but with improved internals?

Anyone using the 4150 with a Ramcharger hood?

So to clarify, a Weiand 8009 will work on a Ramcharger setup?

A Holley Dual Feed Carb won't?

Well, i have no idea what difference in size/height there is between my current carb and a original one.
The Weiand 8009 intake is a little (0.2" i believe) lower than stock, which gives a bit more space for the carb.
But if that is enough i doubt it.

Or, bite the bullit and get a six-pack setup, but that including buying a ramcharger kit wil cost a fortune.
I can think of many better ways spending that money on the car.

My set up is like yours. 69 R/T with N96. I just installed a vintage Edelbrock CH4B with a QF 750. My engine is bone stock, and the correct 440 air cleaner with this set up fits ok. I don't see any rub marks, and it runs like a raped ape too. What a huge difference over the factory cast iron intake and Carter 4617 AVS

There was an eddy ch4b (?) On Knoxville TN craigslist not that long ago. Check it out. Dont know if it is still there...

What's really cool is if you get one with the Mopar P/N cast into it. The dealers sold them through the Direct Connection program.
