Working on the '68 Charger...

-Swapping K-members from the cut up one (no idea why PO did that) to a good one
-pulled the old one, stripped, pressure washed and painted the new one
-put together an Amazon/RockAuto order for all new ball joints, tie-rod ends, bushings, and idler. Still need to find a pitman
-went to remove old pitman from the manual steering box and destroyed the threads. Never done that before.

-Finished welding in the patches to the torsion bar x-member after cutting it for clearance for the 46RE

Yesterday I sliced the nose off of the left front fender and began modifying it to match the completed right. This one had a bunch of BONDO on it because it had been hit. It was pretty snarled up underneath but I took the cut off piece to the woodshed and beat the hell out of it to get close to the original contours. I'm going to sew it back together today. Got a start on it last night. I also took the front hood frame off and cut some 1"x 1" steel tubing into 36" long chunks and welded it into the channels up each side in preparation for installing front tilt hinges to it. I took it outside after and sprayed it with self etching epoxy primer. I will be sanding down the underside of the hood skin today and reinstalling the two back together as I need the hood length to be correct for the building of the left fender nose. Once the fender nose is done i'll take them back off and get the front end cleaned up and primered.

Looking good Dirty! The excitement builds... I spent the holiday POR15ing my interior floors and trunk area, except for the bad place I will replace. Got most of the stuff on the floor and will be "wearing" the rest off my hand over the next month or so. Looks better than the pictures show and that will allow me to move to the next step...pulling the dash! My service manual doesn't really show how this is done so I need to get some detailed instructions...any thoughts on where I go to get a step by atep gentlemen?

Dropped the 518-trans off for a rebuild, for the wagon.

last weekend was decent.

Sanded 1/2 of the header panel to bare metal and primered.

Blasted a section of the underside of RR hood.

Installed and adjusted linkage on future 4 speed project.

Had to disassemble the shifter mechanism (first time) because at some time it had been assembled incorrectly and the spring plate nearest the handle was backwards, preventing full travel.

I replaced the damage tail-light housing on my 78 LeBaron. It took 2 hours! Lots of crazy bolts and screws, plus separating the lens' from the housings. It looks Purdy.

Yesterday i got my bell housing and flywheel in the cold day we had, i think today ill pretend to work on the runner, being i have a bunch of snow that will need removed for wife to get in here again, no complaints, back up to 50 Mon or Tuesday, lol, i kind of love this winter... :

I had to give the convertible some time and fix the squeeking suspension that was driving me crazy when I drove it. so the 68 was in the drive....haven't started it for 3 weeks. Tonight while I was straightening up the garage after taking the vert for a test drive...I get in the 68 and I'll be damn she started right UP ...purred like a kitten.

Think I've finally figured out how to get the transmission mounts on the transmission, up out of the way, and still support the transmission under the car . . .

I fabricated( pounded into shape) a floor pan for the right rear floor section. i have it welded in about 60%. Got time for supper. Finish it up tomorrow afternoon and start on the front section of the same side.

1969 Bird, Spent six hours cutting, chiseling, grinding, and drilling removing spot welds on the rear floor, and hump. Removed what was left of the exhaust.....Cleaned up twenty pounds of rust and twenty pounds of metal. Moving to trunk tomorrow.:eusa_boohoo::eusa_boohoo::eusa_boohoo:

That is some good looking work you've done bud! I remember when you started this project and following it all the way your welding skills and fabrication is so much changed, another proof that when we want these old cars we will have them... Very cool....

Seeing everyones work being done really gets me hyped up to work on my 69 but i put another carport up and my son in law wants me to do some major work on a quarter panel on his suv so instead of waiting until summer to enclose this, he seems to have got me to do it now lol, i have to have heat and lights so, im busy, with his help getting it done.... i sure would like to get started again on mine and sneak in a little work but not much.. I guess this will benifit me in the end so im on a time delay on the 69, i love to see you all doing so good though! cant beat it watching and even learning things..
