What did you do to your Mopar today?

Took all the bright-work in for polishing for the 70 `cuda. Machined and tig-welded carriage-bolts into the `cuda bumpers today. Lots of running around.

Saves the platers from a bunch of grinding...saving me a few bucks.

My car just shut off Sunday on my way to the MOPAR club meeting.Had to get a ride back to my flatbed to go fetch the car.Spark to Cap,weak spark to plugs.Turns out the MSD distributor rotor was firing through the bottom of the rotor ,any way the rotor is just like the old GM so will go to the parts house and pick a few up.

Not today but this week.
Bolted in and hooked up a replacement heavy duty A904 (A999?). Throttle linkage placement looked to be all the same and I've seen the countless threads of people having problems adjusting em so I left it as is. I had no 3rd gear on test drives. I finally found a good source for throttle linkage adjustments for a 1974 car on my Haynes manual so I said what the heck, let's give that a shot. It's surprising how much simpler throttle lever adjustment is if you have the 1974+ set up (preload spring + swivel at the trans end). Now it shifts right on the money IAW FSM specs.

I feel like I became man this week. I only wish I didn't screw up my original 904 during my rebuild attempt.

Reassembled the clutch/brake assembly referenced in above post 6252. The housing & covers were soaked in ER, then hit with steel wool & finished in matte clear. Boesheild was used on the fasteners & functional parts. Original bushings & bearings were in good shape & reused. Pedals were repainted to original drip lines. The white paint markings were replicated on the spring....Jim

Took my son's Duster to a speedometer shop today to have the speedo tested on a dyno.
Found that the gauge was reading 25 mph slow. How the hell did that happen?
Will take the documentation to court next week.

Took the RR out for a cruise around the neighborhood(s) for about 45 min.
A solid 70° and sunny, everything's clean after some much needed rain with absolutely NO TRAFFIC.
My car has never been happier driving on city streets, great after 3-4 weeks without even sitting in the car.

I hit every parts house in a 10 mile radius and the only thing I could find was a cheap *** chin rotor that would melt at the hit.The speed shop is over 20 miles away,so my good friend and crew cheif live out near S&K speed and will get me an MSD cap.I have not hat that rotor off in 2 years,,,,,lesson learned!!:jackoff: Look how this sucker burnt through!!:wtf:

Check your rotors guys!!:poke:

I filled it up with fuel and took it for a drive around the valley between cloudbursts.
Very little traffic & few people out which was nice. I took a holiday picture & couldn't resist a really long smokey burnout up the hill to my house. Only because the roads are slick & it was easy on the car. (OK, it was because my neighbor with the '70 Challenger was watching.)

Looks like there has been a lot of moisture inside the dizzy. High voltage will take the path of least resistance. I remember the early HEI GM dizzys burning holes right through the cap and rotor. Take it apart and clean to make sure the components are all grounded well. Lots of rust and corrosion in there.

This thing is like 2 years old! I was pissed to see how corroded it was:mad:
MSD must be chin junk too! The 2 nuts that hold the pick up down are rusted to ****!:soapbox:

I finally started troubleshooting my 3x2 carb problem (since I got them back from Promax the last week of September) I took the Promax inline 40 micron fuel filter off and apart. I found a couple of teeny tiny pieces of debris in it. Next step is taking the 3 fuel lines between that filter and the carbs off, flushing them, and installing a clear sight plug in each carb, setting the floats in each carb, and see if that either fixes the problem or at least allows tuning the 6 idle mixture screws and that actually having a measurable effect.

due you still have a stock tank in your project. has the tank ever been cleaned and food for thought if you put a cup style filter in the supply line to the carbs put a small magnet in the cup and ever once in awhile pull the cup off and clean the magnet food for thought.

Tank was replaced before I bought the car and looks great.
I appreciate the reply, but I have to emphasize that my 3x2 ran really well before I sent the carbs to Promax and changed the lower and upper fuel lines and fuel pump.
Now they run really bad.
I think it's something simple that I missed or messed up. The carbs were run on their dyno mule before they sent them back.
I have a thread or 2 addressing this and I will post results there.

happy thanksgiving mr hemi just a thought can you put some of that die electric grease in the parts that are rusting do to the moisture build up. just a thought or maybe some battery term protection. i'm sure i spelled everything wrong but just a thought

Silicone spray would work too I think.

Vacuumed out the interior and trunk to get a rundown on condition, couple pinholes in passenger side floor and none in the trunk.

Is your car stored where temp changes make it sweat? Anything will rust or oxidize with temp and humidity changes.

As
stainless bolt will take care of that,,,,another winter project! Now I know why the engine was off a little, you can see it in the Race Pak graph!

I bought a can of the wd40 corrosion inhibitor, like $10 for a small can. I used it on my torqueflight case and the aluminium hasn't changed a bit. I also sprayed the inside of my rocker panels and doors when I had them apart. The only place I could find it was Home Depot.

Glued in the trunk weather-strip and installed the hood-pin plates. Sorted thru all the stuff I bagged-up 20 years ago.....and found some of the unobtainium/pricey small parts, and organizing them into groups for assembly. I also dragged the entire convertible-top assembly[pump and cylinders still attached] out of a garage attic. Man that thing was awkward and heavy. I'm gonna have lots of stuff left-over from this build.
