What did you do to your Mopar today?

Put the new 6-qt HEMI Oil Pan on the block this morning with my trusty gold plated "Chrysler Master Service Technician's" torque wrench.

I also modified the old windage tray that was used with the old 7-qt pan as well. Just prior to installation I removed the rear portion (seen blackened out in the image) because it served no purpose when used in conjunction with the Hemi Pan.

Checked the valves on the heads real quick yesterday... Found two leakers, one exhaust and one intake, so I did a quick lap job on those. Good to go now!

I pulled the rear leaf springs out of my 1967 R/T last week, and took them to be rebuilt. I picked them up a couple of days ago, and repainted them yesterday. I plan to reinstall them this weekend. Mopar Performance S/S springs, and they had sagged. I hope they pick the a$$ end up about 2" .
I sifted through a large pile of receipts from previous owners, and discovered someone had bought new front and rear springs. I did have one leaf added to the rear, and that lifted it about one inch. You will probably bash your knuckles like the spark plug guy. I just bolted in four new Bilstein shocks.

Working on the hydro boost today. I got the pressure hoses done, I’m going to spray brake cleaner through them and install them for the final time.

Then I can bench bleed the MC and put it on for the final time. Mocking up for the brake lines and hydraulic lines has been a pain, but assembly from here on out should be fairly simple.

Today Mopar stood for "My Old Pig Ain't Running". For awhile now the wagon has had no start issues. Spins over but no sparky. Last month I did some diagnostics and found that the magnetic pickup in the MSD distributor was bad. Went and got a new one, plus a cap and rotor, from my old boss at his ranch speed shop. Before I swapped the p/u out, I compared it to the new one with an OHM meter. Showed fine then. Here and there it would not light off but I could undo the P/U connections, reassemble and all would be groovy. Today on the way to my Saturday cars and coffee at the Morro Bay Stacks, it croaked. So I coasted to the side and played with the connections again. No go. Call AAA for a tow home. I think thats the first time I've ever been towed since I've been driving. Get it home, OHM the P/U, shows bad. I put the new one in, set the air gap with my brass gauges. The PO had used black wire from the P/U to the MSD box, so I had to unravel/clip wire ties to see who was hooked to who so I could follow the supplied wiring diagram. When I got near the box, one of the wires fell out of its connection. Not good, so I booted the black wiring for both leads and went through my wiring job leftovers. Found a violet wire and a green. Not exactly the same as the MSD unit but better than what it had. Stripped, crimped, heat shrank the new connections plus put some NO OX in the connectors at the P/U leads. Runs like a champ now. In the future, I'll be putting a stock electronic, from E-Booger, on and convert it to an HEI module.
And the tow truck was a Dodge!

Putting the original distributor back in. Numbers and dates match up. I have log date when it was swapped out.

Cleaned and lubed everything. Cleaned up oxidation.

Installed the CrackedBack headlight relay kit. Never really drove it at night so no idea how much better it is, it was more a preventative thing. Also I couldn't get my motion detector driveway light to turn off for a pic.

At some point I'll use the torsion headlight adjusters to aim them lower

Get a dark coloured rag and a rubber band or tape, and cover the sensor head. It will make the lights go out.

Friday waiting for the parade to start. I was the only Mopar in the parade. Had some fun and got some cheers for some small burnouts.

The 67 Bronze GTX in the background is an original hemi car, never restored.

Just used it to grab lunch and go shopping. Lousy pic and kind of looks like I have a good amount of camber on the front wheels (be awhile before I'm ready for an actual alignment).

Bolted on the rocker covers, inlet manifold and 1405 carb, a bunch of hoses, and other bits. Will work on the linkages and other bits later in the week. Tightened the nuts and bolts on the rubber mounts. The bolt for one mount was loose. Difficult to get at, or someone forgot to tighten it.

Three's a charm. Coolant temperature sensor died on the way home from Carlisle last summer. I installed a reproduction, then a newer Mopar unit, neither of which worked. Finally ponied up and bought a 1980s NOS sensor, tested okay with an ohm meter. A little hard to access on my factory A/C GTX, but with that much practice, the last one went in pretty quickly.
