What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Today I looked at quoting some work for a customer that manufactures ag chemicals, then hit the "quick-stop" before the drive back to town.
Out in the middle of pretty much nowhere, this place has been here as long as I can remember which is about the mid-70s.
The road passing by used to be the main highway, before the freeway went in (and bypassed it) back in the late 90s.

My father, my son and I went to a V8 show close by. There were some very nice rides but the '69 Coronet was by far the best car there IMHO.
Perhaps the owner is a member here on FBBO. Well done. Stunning car.

Finished up the rebuilding a pair of A body lower control arms.
Just waiting on the rebound bumpers coming from Rock Auto.

Sat in the rain and hail watching grandson play baseball. It was 42 degrees. Then after they called the game we went to watch the grand daughter dance.

Today some friends & I took a drive... But since this is the "other than work on your car" thread...
Yesterday a new tool arrived... I have a project I'm working one that's going to need over 500 holes drilled & tapped... Drilling I can deal with, 20-30 tapped holes I can deal with... 500... I've been dreading.... So I purchased a new tool... I'm sure a few of you are familiar with a Tapmatic...

Boxing parts I've sold, and got the discharge at my infectious disease doctor's office. Woo Hoo....off the antibiotics.

Had something similar at work but it wasn't as slick as that one.

So before I was allowed to do any of that car work.. LOL...

Granma just had to pick up at $20 bike at the start of our car cruise on Sunday, "Sure it'll go in the trunk".. no it ended up on the rear seat!

Steering didn't work, I tore it apart and found that a cheap plastic part ( I chuckle every time I say this after 38 years in injection moulding) had broken off that allows it to lock or free wheel on the steering. I drilled a hole and added a rivet mandrel shank for strength and a few holes for the repair to bite into.

Made a mould from cardboard, wax paper and some moulding clay,

Mixed and poured in some JB weld Plastic Bonder.

A day later, my blob has cured.

Filed out to a clean shape, hopefully similar to it originally was before breaking off.

Repaired part being installed.

Got the part filed just right, flush with the rotating junction.

Granddaughter has a new working bike... for 20 bucks and an hour of my time.

Today we had the framing completed, and the plumbing and electrical rough in is done on our basement renovation. I have to line up drywall is next. I will gladly pay someone, because I am as good at drywall as I am at body work!

Ran the vacuum for a few hours removing dog hair that was imbedded between the deck boards. Mostly just needed to do up against the house as I'm going to pressure wash the house on Monday and wanted the hair out of those areas. Figured it was time to do it all again anyway. We have a tool just for clearing out the gaps but there were a couple of areas that were too tight for it so out came the dental pick. The current pair of kids have some serious coats on them. About 1500sqft on the deck. I'm pooped. Tomorrow gas up the washer, get it running and ready for Monday.

Didn't do much today but did remove more dirt from the front corner of my house where the fence and gate will be. Yeah, I'm slow these days. Also got the right fertilizer and spread that out yesterday using a hand held spreader. That thing is pretty handy and gets used mostly for spreading out fire ant bait and very little use for fertilizer.

Went to the grocery store this morning and on the way out, there was neighbor down the road that was cleaning out the garage and putting things on the side of the street. Besides finding a buck 50 in change, there was an antique iron bed frame, a couple of shovels, a really nice 17" tire mounted on a Ford alloy wheel, a good heavy duty (looks good....gotta test it) water hose and more. Still sorting through it. There's also a stainless steel deep fryer basket that I snagged. It's one of those large ones....turkey size. Think I'll keep that one and get rid of the aluminum one. Just something else to keep me from doing the other things that need to be done lol.

Went out to my folks to swap out an old fluorescent fixture for a new LED and replace a couple of plugs.
Then we did a little scoot n' shoot looking for any wayward 'yotes...none out but we found a couple of dens.

Topside, it just looks like a wall of brush and bamboo across from the orchards...

...but that vegetation grows along the top of the slough that runs along the back of the property. Up until very recently it was completely full of water.
