What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Helping a friend with some railroad ties.View attachment 1033567 And fill tree stump holes with rocks.View attachment 1033568 The fire completely ate up the old ties & where a fir tree was is just a hole about 26-8" diameter & 6' (feet!) deep. There are holes all over the place, on a grade, that need caving in/filling before the rains come. IF it ever does.
Back hurts, will be worse tomorrow...
His house survived, thank you LORD!
But garage didn't. Saved the '55 but lost highscool '72 'vette and '41 Chevy.

Wow, that's horrible!!

Drove it to hell and back, just like every day.

Played a little game of Rock, Steering wheel, Ribs! Just what I needed with a 10 hour round robin trip to make with the enclosed trailer! 10 inches of mashed potatoes and still coming down. Supposed to get as much again before morning.

Made a 12 hour round trip to pick up this 03 avalanche 4x4. My grandmother has wanted a pick up truck for 20 years and she finally bought one. Her younger sister and her husband are moving to Virginia to live with their daughter. I know it’s a Chevy but, she got a dang good deal. 03, 205,000 miles, 4x4 all power inside and Leather. She paid 1k. She’ll be 73 next year. She’s tickled pink. We spent the day together to go get the truck. It was a good day.

You are a good grandson! Way to go, both of you.

Put up some more ceiling insulation boards so I can feel my fingers while turning wrenches

I looked something similar to that!

Also, I don't know what has happened to the price of building supplies - they seem to have gotten very expensive the last couple of years! I used to exclaim how drywall was cheap. Not any more!!! :wtf:
Its got very expensive this year sir! It’s all the natural disasters, looting, etc.. I have seen prices skyrocket. I can’t understand why it’s allowed to happen. I know the manufactures have to be running extra shifts, but this is robbery without a gun. I only give 30 days to accept a bid, then it’s void, I do explain the reason. I understand supply and demand but this is ludicrous!

It is supply and demand. Housing boom because people want out of city. I watch FBN and that's what the stats say, except Ca, Il etc.

I finished up this cabinet I constructed from rough cut poplar. Wanted it to blend in with the existing redwood paneling.

With a nice shop to work in now I can finally start catching up on some of the projects, repairs and upgrades I have been putting off for 5-6 years now.

Pulled my old 1989 Case 1845C Skid steer into the shop for some work.

Need a new bucket and was planning on getting one this summer then Mom died suddenly so that got forgotten. Old one is the original from 1989 and so pieced together, worn out and thin that the RH side quick change won't stay latched anymore....but I need it to move snow over the winter so decided to make the mount semi-permanent.

Removed the old spring loaded pin and then used some 1" square tubing, a long bolt with a stover nut, a metal spacer and some washers and plates. Used it a couple times now and seems to be holding fine.

Have wanted a trailer hitch for my bucket on the Skid Steer to move the car trailer around, so finally got that done. Scavenged an old flat bar style hitch and thought it would work well bolted to the bucket. Welded on some angle iron to make sure it wouldn't drift side to side. Then I had to hog out the hole to fit a 2" ball, since it originally had a small 1 7/8" ball.

Much easier now to move the trailer around. ;)

And my work lights on the Skid steer stopped working last winter...so dove into why that happened. Turns out the 20Amp fuse didn't pop when it got hot/over loaded and it melted the whole fuse assembly. So cut out the old damaged fuse holder, spliced in a new unit and fixed a couple other misc wires...Yeah lights worked again! Then decided I should upgrade to some LED's lights I have had for a long time, less draw then the old halogen flood lights.

Old..

And new..

Also fixed the seat since the metal frame to the lower cushion had cracked and broken...welded it up without burning the seat up and re-installed.

Loaded up the 1st Gen Dodge/Cummins with stuff from my place in CT, rolling tools chests, welders, etc. and headed to my place in NH.

Drove back first thing this morning for work.

The wife and I just finished tucking in the camper for a long winter's nap.

That the view from your yard????

Yes sir,
I took that shot this morning from the front deck as I was leaving the house.

The Presidential Mountain Range is right off the front porch... Mount Madison, Adams, Jefferson, Clay, Washington, Monroe, Franklin and Eisenhower.
Unfortunately the camera makes them look smaller and further away than they actually are. You can see hikers up there on a clear day.

I love the Whites - I have hiked there numerous times. Absolutely beautiful!
