What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Of course not. But we went in early on Saturday to get there when they opened at 9:00, so very little traffic.
Seems like there's always congestion getting into Houston but its been nearly 8 years since going there.

Cranky, I hate to tell you but when looking at the area on Google Earth, Pasadena is the same as Houston, same as Deer Park, same as Golden Acres, same as.........

You get the idea, its ALL one big az' City. Not really any difference from one to the other. JMHO though. But if you like it there, that's all that matters!

Nope....there's a difference. Pasadena 'had' one skyscraper until recently when it was demolished a few years ago. The largest buildings now in the Pasadena area are hospitals and care centers and don't think any of them is over 10 stories. Golden Acres? That's Pasadena. Deer Park is a city of it's own but no tall buildings there either. Population of Pasadena is less than 150k. Deer Park is under 33k and Houston is....wait for it....over 2.3 mil. But you are right. It's just one sprawling area with very little between city boundaries anymore.

At least I can go just about anywhere in the Pasadena area and get there without getting caught in a traffic jam. Can't do that when going into Houston. Every freeway in and out of that hell hole is clogged and is that way nearly all day long. Only 2 freeways in Pasadena and one is Texas State Highway 225 and that runs through the north side and that's usually full of commuters going back and forth to Baytown and other 'new' communities in that area during the rush hours. The other is Belt Way 8....another loop and was considered to be the outer loop with 610 being the inner loop. Now, the 99 is the new outer loop.

Sad thing about it all is that there was 1 4 lane road in Pasadena years ago. Deer Park went to a 4 lane in the early 70's for their main drag and that thing needs to be widened now but they do have other wide roads that are not marked for 4 lanes. There are double divided roads there too. One used to be a dirt road that I used to blast down lol. I would love to be out in the country these days but that's not gonna happen.

I understand Cranky, but its just a matter of our reference points.

For instance, what the heck is a skyscraper? what is a 10 story building?

The closest "City" to me is about 3 miles away and has about 2,000 residents, no stoplights, but there is one flashing light. Two 2-lane highways cross in the middle of town, one gas station, one small independent grocery store, one bank, a Dollar General, a couple or three church's, fire station, no bar's, both closed years back now, and that's about it.

Nothing much but Corn and Bean fields around me for miles. And I like that! (Go ahead, call me a country hick, I don't care).

Used to be that way here only it was pastures but there's still some areas like that and not very far. Thing is, they are starting to grow kinda fast too. And at 73, I'm not looking forward to moving to an older house and can't afford to buy a new place lol. Doing good just to maintain the 1/2 acre and the house that I have. Just hope the easement behind me stays open! It's plenty big enough to do doughnuts on :D

Yeah, me too, just trying to maintain what I have. Gettin' old doesn't help with that at all. (I'm about same age as you). But it is what it is. As long as we can keep doin' Doughnuts, we'll be fine!

Nice garage!

I applied my knowledge of janitorial engineering. AKA, vacuumed, shook dog hair out of blankets/bedding so my wife could wash them, did my daily poo patrol[ cat boxes and outside tootsie rolls], washed dishes etc.

washed dishes?????? that's why wedding dresses are white, so the dish washer matches the rest of the appliances

No machine dishwasher in our pad. Have been hand washing for almost 20 years. As we've found machines don't always do a good job. We share the house duties, as it should be. There are tasks she can do which I can't and vice versa.

Got a dish pan of steaming how water in the sink as I type.....and I've been hand washing for a lot of years. The X used the dish washer but like you say, they don't always do the job.

My wife still works at 72 years of age. I retired at 55 so I don't mind doing things around the house. Besides, I do a better dish washing job than she does LOL

No worries. We were both raised properly and have manners. It cracks me up when I come across those gents who believe its mom's/sister's/gf's/wife's/maid's duties to pick up after them. I usually give them a reality check.

retired/disabled at 52, wife still works also, we share all duties, just wanted an excuse to use that joke dabnagit

Okay, no more paperwork on my desk, it’s going to fall. Can’t get finished with one thing before someone drops another job on me. Help!
