What if I want to build my 318 up a smidge

Really, way back when, the only part that hot riders really could have used are headers. Intakes were made for this engine as well as most everything else. Intake selection was crummy. Edelbrock and Weiand has a 3 x 2 set up and Weiand has a single 4bbl. The factory 4bbl. was around but not sought after and the in-line 2 x 4 was and is still priceless.

Racer Brown, Competition Cams, Crane Cams used to have cams on the shelf. Crane will still make you one. Chrysler Power has a few on hand.

Only tti makes headers.

I never thought much of the prior available Intakes ? and without Headers(too time consuming to build)... well, I never saw much point in any Cam availability from anyone.
I haven't Flowed that new CPPA Intake either... but it looks promising ?

A friend of mine has an old iron 2X4 BBL Poly Intake sitting on the shelf ! WITH the original Carbs !
I told him once before "that must be rare as hen's teeth" ?
Because, I didn't even know they made one before that point in time ?

How does a guy post Pictures on here... I took a photo of it awhile back for shits & giggles.

As far as cams...my original went to Schneider's Cams for a regrind via Gary Pavlovich'. It was cheaper than a new one.

Speaking of early Poly performance parts, I picked this up about five years ago.

what do you guys plan to do with all these cool parts? To me they are like memorabilia. Is that fair to say?

with your street axle ratio or anything higher than 3.55 I'd see if anyone has a core or find a good used core and have Mike Jones put his
H440D64307
256° @006
202° @.050
.307″ lobe lift
.461″ with 1.5 rockers
yes it's hyd- use AMC/ Magnum lifters and get your pushrod length correct for correct geometry if it was me I'd use oil through the pushrods pushrods
you can get Hard chrome shafts and rebuilt-bushed rockers from Rocker Arm Rebuilders in NorCAl Anderson I think
you can compare the specs with comps Mopar special grinds but that does not give area under the curve
Mike's is asymetrical and easy on the valvetrain
Find some head flows and post them up and Mike will pick timing events based on head flows, intake, exhaust compression etc
THis lobe as absolutely the most area of anything in it's class
will work with stock compression
find the engine masters build
but keep it simple and enjoy
no need to spend money on rods- stock ones are fine- new bolts and if the Direct Connection rod bolts for the LA work use them they are SPS and a real bargain
a little time on those heads really wakes them up
problem is short valve springs
you do NOT want a 268 cam with tall street gears
anything over 260 will cut your 50 - across the intersection- time
I'd run AVS carb or a TQ
ENJOY

I think it's fair to call it that. Of course these parts can still be used if one decides to. The 3X2 intake and the carbs on the bench (I posted above) are bolted together and hanging in the shop. For me to see something like that is like a flash to the past when the parts were new and the guys back then were souping up their engines. Sometimes I refer to it a "garage art".

I’m not super sure, but I think the 2x4 Poly was a 1 or 2 year run on the 300 car. ‘57-‘58, I forget.
I have one myself. Got it to surprise an old friend. He has since become undeserving.
