IMHO, a lot of answers here are making "survivor" and "unmolested" about the same. I feel differently.
"Survivor" is the harder and better term for a car to have. RC's car is a survivor. It is a car with almost all original paint, it has original parts, still drives and presents well, etc. It is a car that
over time, has
never had major issues or changes, and still presents and works well. They are truly rare cars indeed.
To me, an
"unmolested" car is below survivor. A molested car is one that,
as it sits right now, has
poorly done or goofy add ons. But I also believe that a "molested" car can become "unmolested". My buddy's GTX had someone badly cut out and add rear wheel fender flares (with lots of Bondo). That's molested. But if you carefully and properly replace the quarter panels, then it's unmolested.
I also believe that common "day two" additions does not make a car "molested". A nice set of headers, maybe different wheels, etc. are OK by me.
Though this may be controversial, most of us have seen the 68 Bullit Charger built by
@keepat . How many would walk by that car and say it was "molested"? Certainly not me. That car is beautifully engineered and built. Since it does not have
poorly done or goofy add ons, it is unmolested. It is not original either, but being non-original does not equal molested.
