What type of valve spring compressor do you guys use? I rented the cheap 30 dollar one from the auto store and the fingers on the valve compressor don't go out long enough to grab the dual springs i am using, they grab the single breakin spring just fine. Just wonding what you guys are using? I seen the LRM racing one looks sweet but spendy. thanks

I use LSM, and for the FH i use superior, these are assembled removal tools, for heads off i use a air operated large clamp looking tool, you can get them at CHS it's around $390

Tools are something you don't look for in cheap variety

I enjoy pinched and smashed fingers as much as everyone else, I bought mine from Mancini Racing and it works great!

I had to install inner springs on a 413 once after breaking in a hi lift cam. I used the one like you are talking about, and had to rig up a chain and lever arrangement to compress the inner spring while the outer spring was held in the compressor. Lotsa fun! Ha ha. Wouldn't want to try that today though.

If you have a flat cam using any spring with good pressure you do need to do that or the risk of killing the cam and doing the motor over are very high.

With the LSM tools it is very very easy

I broke the motor in with the breakin springs, now i need to install the dual springs, i ordered the compressor from lsm it should be here today. thanks

i got the compressor from lsm and man that thing is sweet, it makes the job a piece of cake....I would highly recommend this tool, it is abit pricy but you can't put a price on quality...ok maybe you can..lol...later
