What was the first car you learned to drive on

1969 Datsun pickup. I was 12.

1954 Willys CJ-3B. Same as above. Dad had both at the same time. The Willys did zero to sixty in never, but it was a LOT of fun.

1994 Chrysler LeBaron. Man I hated getting dropped off in front of school with that thing.

Grandpa's '71 LTD, I was 12.

(I wore sunglasses so nobody seen me driving a furd)

I learned in a 57 Plymouth. Ended up being my first car.

1963 Chrysler 300

I learned to drive and took my road test on a 1967 Dodge Monaco.
Shortly after that car which was going to be mine developed some front-end issues and was traded in on a new 1973 Dodge Monaco. That was what I drove for a while until my Dad got tired of me borrowing the car. I always wanted a first gen Charger but he had it in his mind that a used car was another persons headache traded in. So we purchased a 73 Dodge Charger.

Yuup 70's pinto
driving it to school in 7th grade, got caught and was forced to sell it...sold it for $1500.00 then bought a 68 Firebird

I'm certain it was a Pinto wagon but I was also driving my grandmother's 74 LTD before I had my license (with my mom in the car) about the same time. Apparently I did very well and got to drive around town often. Good post! Made me remember that little detail in my life.

I grew up on a farm like a lot of kids and was driving our old Ford 9N long before I was on the road. The first thing I actually drove on the highway was my dad's '41 Ford 1/2 ton hauling hay. The great thing about that old truck was that you couldn't hurt it. You could rev that old flathead V8 until the valves floated and it didn't seem to do any damage. It'd just keep on hauling.

Learned, rapidly in a 74 Dart my brother made me drive when I was 14, took drivers test in a 79 Dodge Magnum.

1950 Studebaker pickup- bought when I was 12 for $100 that I made mowing lawns. I got to steer it while my Dad towed it home on a chain. I remember him telling me to watch for cops. Got it running and learned to double clutch the old 3 speed tranny behind the flathead until I blew it up and replaced the flathead with 289 out of a Silverhawk and dual 2 barrels. Next came a '70 440 6 brl Road Runner when I was 16.

In the 1960's on the ranch as a kid: a 1947 ton and a half Chevy flat bed truck with two-speed rear axle control on the dash and another lever for dual range on the shift handle, a Ford wheel tractor, an International TD-6, a fork lift, and a Honda mini-trail 50. On the legal highways (including my DMV driver's practical exam), a new 1971 Plymouth Road Runner 383 auto with Air Grabber hood.

Learned to drive on a H Farmall tractor around age 8 or 9....first car (around age 14) was a 1969 Ford Galaxie 500 390 V8 with an automatic tranny. My dad is gone to a better place now but if he was around and found out the way I drove that car he would still whoop my a--. :headbang:

I started out on a Allis-Chalmers WD45 and a Farmall "M". Then I graduated to our '63 Chevy C-50 grain truck with a 5x2 tranny. Learned to drive a car on the road in my Dad's 1961 Cadillac convertible. Took my driver's test in a 1964 Pontiac Star Chief.
