What was the first car you learned to drive on

My Dads1959 Ford stepside pickup. Had about a three foot diameter steering wheel, three on the tree.
Passed my driving test in it too. You should have seen the look on the instructor's face!

A 1962 Ford Galaxie, it was 1975, I was 6 years old.

I started in a '62 Rambler American, 3 on the tree! When I was about 15 my dad would take me to a nearby department store parking lot on Sunday evenings and let me drive around in the empty lot. Yes, for you younger folks the stores were closed on Sundays in the late 60s!!!

The car I learned on was my parents 71 Plymouth fury. My first car was a 77 Plymouth Valare... My second car was the car that I learned to drive a stick.... 73 Plymouth roadrunner 340 4 speed

Oliver tractor age 5, 49 Studebaker 1/2 ton in the field by 13 and 66 Dodge Polara first time legally on the road 44 years ago.

Spent my summers as a kid (mid '70's to mid '80's) with my Grandparents working in orchards for the farmer across the highway. My uncle still lived at home at the time and it was his car. Technically I learned to drive tractors but evenings and weekends were spent terrorizing the ford and chevy guys in the area. Some amazing memories and strong bonds were forged.

My dad gave me the family car and paid for my insurance, it was a 1963 olds Jetstar 88 with a I believe a 393 ci. What memories.

In 1970, my brother came home on leave & bought a 68 RR coupe. He let me drive it in the parking lot. I scared both of us. When he went back to the army, I'd sneak it out when the folks were gone. Nobody knew I had made a set of keys.
First stick car I ever drove was his 69 Torino Cobra, 428 CJ/4 speed with whatever Ford called their shaker hood. Sad to realize those firsts were bests.

I learned to drive in 1982 in a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. I would like to buy another but most left are cloned. Anyone have one for sale that is unmolested?

First thing I ever drove was my dad's 76 Powerwagon that he bought new. Ended up being sold in 1989 and I kept track of it for awhile until it disappeared. I finally found it a again a couple years ago but there's not much left of it. I'm crazy but I have been gathering parts for it since. Funny thing was my dad still had the original 400 block laying at his place. Some pics, good and bad. Yup thats me next to it when it was new...

my dad would let me drive the 61 ford pickup when we went to the farm, I was probably 11 or 12 y/o. it was great. now I take my 3 grandsons to the farm and let them drive but they really like a ride in the 64-dodge 440 with 440/4sp.

My Dad's 68 Dart was the first car I ever drove. He would let me sit on his lap and drive to preschool. He would do the pedal work. It was also the car I came home from the hospital in when I was born. Sure wish I had it today. I have a lot of great memories of that car. My mom was always complaining that he was driving too fast. I guess Mopars have a tendency of doing that though.

First drive was in my Dad's 64 MG 1100 4spd 4dr sedan. We were visiting relatives on a farm on the Eastern Shore of Md. I was 12 years old. I asked and he said go ahead, just don't hit anything and don't go off the Farm. Well, I've been off the Farm ever since. LOL

Then I upgraded to a Dodge Van, 225 slant, three on the tree, damn that was fun back in the day, had a couch in the back.

1st car I drove "IN" not ON, out in public, not off-road...

It was a 56 F-100 352ci-fe 4 speed {cool ol' truck} IIRC
in the Park & Shop parking lot in Concord Ca. like 10-11 y/o, 1970-71ish {?}
had a little trouble, with reaching gas & brake & clutch,
I tried to stop & didn't get the clutch in far enough, kind of short then,
my step dad Bob reached over & turned off the key just before we ran out of room,
tried again with the seat father forward, did much better...
Drove his pride & joy 35 Ford P-U hot rod, at families property & at the track around the pits,
pulled his 64 GTO, 71 Judge & my moms 68 Sport Satty or her 57 Ford 2dr Ranch Wagon {all 4 speed cars}
in & out of the garage/driveway, as often as they'd let me...LOL
I drove my POS 61 Renault that was made into a dune buggy,
all over the dunes & around my back yard, I was warned don't drive it on the street,
I got caught driving it on the street, my step dad Bob cut it in halve with a torch,
loaded it in his P-U, hauled it off to the scrapyard...LOL

79 Camaro rally sport. My parents bought the car slightly used in 79. My dad traveled for his work. They bought it from the owner of a motel he stayed at in Milwaukee. The owner bought it for his 16 year old kid and the kid lost his license with it. He took it away and sold it to my dad the car was for my mom.since she has passed away. I now own the car.it has 85,000 miles on it.

My learn to drive car was a 1959 Mark IX Jaguar sedan.. 4 door, 2 tons, 4 speed with electric OD and bucket seats! Dad bought it when we were stationed in the Philippines. He ordered it from the factory and had it shipped to the PI. He drove it there for about 9mo before we transferred back stateside.

As a family, we took it cross country twice and when I turned 16 it was the only car in the household, so... that was it. He kept it until 1965, when it ate the mains in the engine ( NOT MY FAULT, he was driving). Taking girls on dates was fun in it. Then I got my own car and that was the end of the high class ride!!
