I have been setback on my headders..... it's not all the headers fault.... if I have to remove them I will order and return headders as a new hobby until they stop sending them because I cant run my car with out steering..... tomorrow I will attend the headers... why can't hooker make headders for small block fit? I feel for the big block folks... I never had such a problem as I do and the edelbrock heads are 1/2 of it.

I just installed hooker competition headers in my 440. Wasn't too painful. But then again I have the original heads.

spend the money and get first fit TTI headers, not a single problem with mine

That's what's causing some the trouble... a 440 shouldn't be easier than a 318... the steering linkage won't pass through the tubes... I'm going to work my motor mounts over again to get a little more.... at east I got them where I want them..... now to het them to stay there.... they will work like a line lock where if you punch it the wheel will lock straight.... any suggestions at e welcome...

Done spending money.... but yes that would have been the way.... what I have now for parts is all I'm buying... DONE

I will put the single exhaust and manifolds back on if these just don't work...

I have never had an issue with the hooker long tube headers. I have done more than one set. my big block hedman headers were even easier. all with factory heads. I have never sent a set back

The Eddy heads are most of it and as far as I know, TTI is the only ones making headers that fit well with them.

Headers
Headers
Headers.
Buy cheap ones and you will still pay more than you expect. You'll pay in the form of INCREASED frustration, band aids from skinned knuckles, Hours and hours installing, removing, making clearance "dings" and reinstalling six or more times.
TTI and Dougs are the only brands that fit right without having to beat on them. People that keep buying Hooker, Hedman or the other headers under $400 MUST be total cheap asses. No, I don't like spending $600 or more for headers but every set of TTIs I've bought fit well, hit nothing, have great clearance around spark plugs and have not let me down.

Edelbrock heads are of no consequence. The exhaust ports are in the same location as stock. The angled spark plugs are not either if you buy TTI or Dougs headers.

.

LOL it all depends on who's doing the installing. I have installed so many sets and I have never cut myself, thrown tools or even cussed at them , let alone having to remove them and put them back on 6 times. if you know what you have to do and the order in which to do it , it is easy peasy. and yes , I am a cheap *** mfkr , and I will not spend 600 on a set of headers. if you are beating the **** out them to make them fit , you are doing it wrong wrong wrong. the best part is , I paid 120 bucks shipped for my latest brand new cheap *** headers that went on in less than 2 hours , from the top, without ONE single dent and barely a scratch

yes , and it is spelled headers

On a small block is what gets me.... the plan is to wedge them in and I have them sprung where I want them and a little more then I will heat the collector where the tubes are welded from the inside... I have one that is holding the others up... another problem is compounded with quick ratio pitman arm... with that I don't think any pre made will slip in... I have no starter problem maybe too much room... My short oil filter on the other side barely fits... I wouldn't have it any other way.... I'm a sadist if no one has noticed...

I do all the work but the crank balancing...

Trans is easy once you have the tools and right parts.... get more than one book and study them take tons of pictures and be super clean and organized.... people forget to adjust the band's and filters and that's 1/2 of it... then it lasts a lifetime....

I do bands and regular maintenance, I have an extra 727 sitting here that ive been thinking about ripping into....

the hedders may fit with the engine cocked at a 15 degree angle... im going to tear a motor mount and its not worth it to me any more for headders.... at the rate i am going i will have to but 2 or 3 sets of wrong parts... and the car will never get done... back to the drawring board... i checked the edelbrock heads and they are the same as stock... i have done hooker headers before and these are junk... i had a set for a truck that fit that and a car as well... no dice with these... mabe a set for an E body will get it past the steering inkage.... anyways these will come off and then i can decide if i want to cut them up or not...

do the headman headers go above the steering or under the linkage on a small block?
