When was the 67 GTX formally announced?

It seemed like they wanted to make a big deal out of the GTX but I've not seen much in the way of old ads/reports of the announcement. I've seen the November 66 Car and Driver review, so they likely would have tested it in September but don't recall ever seeing any press announcements.

I'm reasonably sure both the '67 GTX and Coronet R/T were available from initial production. The earliest SPD I have on file for a '67 GTX is 909

That article is mostly correct but has some detail and context errors.

Correct me if I am wrong. The story I heard went something like, during the 1967 auto show circuit there was a conflict upstairs as to which car they were going to highlight for the 1967 model year. There were two cars on the tour vying for the limelight, a GTX convertible hemi and a matching convertible Fury with a 440. Eventually they decided upon the GTX which may explain why there isn't a lot of pre production hoopla. Only reason I know this tid-bit of information is that a friend of mine owned the Fury. It was announced before September 29, 1966. How do I know? Look at the Plymouth Belvedere Sales Pocket Card below. You'll see the GTX mentioned at the bottom of Page 2, and the effective date of the info on the card at the bottom of the last page.
