Where did you and your car go today

For me now, it's Sirius radio or a thumb drive.
We had Sirius for years. I had it in all the vehicles, even in the car. About 2 years ago, I happened to see the monthly bill. It worked out to be about 600 bucks per year. I asked my lady to cancel it, 50 bucks a month for listening to music? Last I knew, it was 15. Only the Grand Cherokee had a factory setup, the others I had mounted a base and would just move the head to the vehicle, I was going to drive. We only had music, no sports, or talking stuff. After she canceled, nearly everyday I would get an email, come back with the lowest price being 3 bucks a month, for 3 years. Too little, too late, they proved to me what a loyal customer meant to them. Don’t know what a thumb drive is. We do have a few of the streaming services, all free.

Weekend is over, time to head home

I wait till it's about to expire and I phone and ask them to continue at the present rate or goodbye. It's about 60 a year. I'm not paying anymore than that
Thumb drives typically feature smaller storage capacities than a flash drive. due to their compact size. My Coronet and Durango both have a port to plug them in.

The cable and the satellite providers are the same way. A few months ago when I got yet another survey notice I just said if my bill goes up another dollar, I would be leaving. Low and behold, it hasn't gone up since.

I would have done that but, the way they kept creeping it up for 11 years, (I didn’t know) no way. My wife said, she thought I really enjoyed it. I said I do, but it’s just a glorified radio. No worries, I did without it for 50 years. Heck, I’m not a high tech redneck, I think I have an MP3 player(?) I use to use. I think I had 100 songs on it. Thanks for the info!

I've changed up in the last 5 years, I've lost my will to save money!! LOL. I've never paid for radio till I got my Durango. I'm sick of constant commercials and interruptions. I even bought a car wash pass a few years ago. I don't wash cars, except Cora, once a year. I refuse to have a dirty car.

High tech, I have someone do it for me. My computer is slowing down after all these years and a friend who is very high tech either fixes it or it's got to go! I found a brand new laptop tucked away in my filing cabinet, I forgot I had, I don't like laptops and that's obviously why I put it away. Long story short, I need a new desktop. These little drives are the bomb!! I put all the discs I had on these drives and they just plug into a port on my console and we're off and running. Cora has a port and a pigtail, the pigtail plugs into my phone and for me, it's once and done. My friend does all this for me, he's very good at it and enjoys doing it.

My friend lived across the street from me, two houses ago. He's younger than I am and lost his father shortly after I moved in. He watched me transform my house, a day at a time, into my home. He knew nothing about home remodel, woodworking or general maintenance. We became great friends, after he came over and asked if he could pay me to do some work on his house. He asked me what I charged, I asked him what he wanted and if he wanted it done or if he wanted to learn. He desperately wanted to learn, so I told him, if he worked with me, it's free. WE have went from the front to the back, top to the bottom at his house and he can now do it by himself. He's very sharp and I'm truly proud of him. We traded and now, we just do for each other, family!!

It wasn’t the money, it was the principle. I don’t mind the commercials, just a little glitch. What I can’t stand is the more DJ than music, or talk radio. I’ve found stations that don’t have them, from old country to the newer (no rap crap country) from the 50’s to classic rock through some newer, (no metal, rap or heavy). The Jeep has the car wash pass, for the wife. The others, I wash.

I do have a desktop, 2 laptops, 2 phones, an iPad and a tablet. I don’t actually use the desktop much but it is there if I need it. The laptops and phones 1 each for business and personal. I use the iPad for this stuff and the tablet I bought for the truck. I can do so much on the phone now, the tablet is in an office drawer. Still not a techie but, thank goodness for the kids.

I’ve always enjoyed helping out friends, neighbors older people and the young ones. I’ve been here 7 years, my neighbors are great! On the big stuff, I do have to charge but, when it comes to everything else, it’s family, to me. They actually come check out when I’m messing with the truck or the car and we’ll do something with theirs, if needed. During summer breaks, I’ve hired the older neighbors kids to come on the job. Gives them some much needed spending money, one was working at Firehouse Subs about 10 hours a week, couldn’t get any more hours. Volunteers at the hospital and getting ready for college. 20 an hour cash, helped him a lot, and he loved it. I’d just pay him everyday when he could or he’d help out one of my friends when needed, win win.

I know it's not about the money, but for me, my whole life was about chasing a buck. It's like a drug, very addictive. I just don't care anymore. I now enjoy giving and having fun with it. I see more clearly now that life is very short and at 68, times ticking away. I know the person you are and that's a good thing!!

Made a stop at the Bastogne/''Battle of the Bulge'' area, on my way back from France.
Drove through the area with the Satellite, where much of the fighting took place around Bastogne, explored the woods a little and visited the 101 Airborne positions.

Bullit holes can still be seen around the window.
