Where did you and your car go today

Fast Lane....I can tell ya some stories about that place. Let the buyer beware.
Its just over the hill from where I work.
Amen slap Stick, before we bought Cora we went there to see what we wanted to buy. They have a big selection of over priced cars. They own some and the rest are on consignment. My car is a driver and that's why I bought it. It's in great shape, but by no means perfect. I looked at some Chevy novas that were right at 40 thousand. The money is not what bothered me it was the guaity of what you got for the money. Cracked paint, no air conditioner and for 4 thousand they would install air conditioning but I'm not painting a 40 thousand chevy 2. Most all their cars need more work and I'm not interested in throwing 10 thousand more for paint. They won't come down on any prices. It's the little things that add up, nickel and dime you to death and 75 percent of their cars needed a ton of little stuff. They looked at us like we made excuses because they thought we couldn't afford the car. Never judge a book by its cover. At this point in my life it's not the money but the quality. My wife looked at them and told them we're looking to drive one not lay under it. I've built cars but, not anymore. It's time to get in and let the horses run!!

Yep, an old friend (rip) and I used to go in there. It got so when we appeared they disappeared. They didn't want us asking questions and then shooting down their answers.
My friend lived in Dallas and knew a lot of the car restoration guys there.
We saw one of the 80s Cutalsses with the multi lever shifters. Looked great until I got close. It had been repainted...over the original stripes and the new stripes were not on top of the old! They said it had never been repainted.
They had a Daytona that had paint so thick when it dries it cracked and peeled like dried mud.
"Original paint" they said. I called BS and they told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Also the seam between the fender and nose had been mudded in..."preparing it for na$car" they said.
So I said "original paint, right"?
They walked away.
Here is a good one.
They had a 69 Camaro Z28 that was really sharp. Under the hood...."factory original" 454!
When I said the 454 didn't come along til mid year 70 and never offered in the Camaro they did a disappearing act, along with everyone looking at it.
And you are correct they won't budge one penny.
I could say lots more but you already have a good picture.

My car & I went to San Francisco today. Went back & forth over the Golden Gate Bridge & drove around the city for a while. I did not do the Bullet thing but did think about it...

You are a brave man. Been over the bridge maybe 6 times. Twice with the Coronet. Thanks for the pictures. Someday, maybe we can coordinate for a photo op both cars. Years ago, I leaad a Chrysler Club tour to recreate the Bullit chase. Did it on an early Sunday morning.

That sounds fun Dennis! I've been meaning to PM you...
I have found that on Holidays the traffic is surprisingly light. EVERY park was full/closed @ capacity including the GG Bridge 'view points' where I had hoped to get a scenic picture or two. Cars were everywhere but flowed at the speed limit.
It was really congested downtown (always is) but out in the 'hoods' VERY few people out.
Last time I was in SF, (years ago, been avoiding it like the plague) it took 1.5 hrs to get across the bridge.
It was a nice drive through the city.
Going in @ the point of no return:

It is usually grid-locked EVERYWHERE down there so I was enjoying the trip, not battling fellow motorists

Didn't ANYONE go ANYWHERE today?
I did...

Today was 61 degrees and sunny!! My wife and I went on two Ferries today. The Golden Eagle Ferry to cross the Mississippi River and the Brussels Ferry to cross the Illinois River to get to the Great River Road in Illinois. The road runs along the river for miles and runs through Grafton a river town founded in 1832 and Alton founded in 1818 where the two rivers come together. At that point we crossed the Clark bridge back into Missouri and drove for miles through rich river bottom farm land back to town, ate and went home. It was a fantastic day

short trip to the liquor store to celebrate getting it back on the road after waiting almost 2 months while running electrical, and moving my compressor in order to paint a replacement rallye wheel and swap the tire over

Yep, still fun!.

Ya picked a good place for chow. Never had a bad meal at Mattingly's.
Trivia note: the Golden Eagle ferry used to be a paddlewheeler. It was a pain to load/unload as the ramp was on the side.

About a mile from my house, works out great!! I didn't know that about the Golden Eagle, thanks!!!!

Well, the other day, mine went into my 'storage' trailer......but I came back out once the car was in place and secured.

Went for a short drive on Sunday, just had to get out, was about 55 degrees and dry, not bad for January here in Colorado!

Wanna buy it?
Would love too!! 10 years ago I down sized from something like that to a three car garage and ranch house. Mine was three car and the last bay was 14 wide and 50 foot deep in a subdivision.
