Where have they all gone? I'm just blowing off steam.

Once this is all said and done, I'm getting a tattoo. I'm not a tat guy but it will be "RM23". Most people wont even know what it means but those who know, will know - and understand.
Some will think its a gang thing.

Be patient. And just like buying a house (because let's be honest, they cost about the same!) have your cash and financing ready to go ahead of time. When the right car comes along, no seller wants to hear "I want it, but I'll have to get the money together first ". I guarantee the car will be gone before you go back. And if you want/need a Superbird THAT badly, be prepared to either travel or spend more $ to get it.
And just to tease you a little bit, here are pictures from the Ridgely, Maryland Car Show on 9/19/21. We had a total of 10 Wing cars in attendance. For some crazy reason, the Eastern Shore of Maryland has more wing cars per capita then anywhere else I know of. Mine is the Tor Red car with whitewall tires. The sunrise picture was taken at the Easton, MD airport where we picked up Richard Petty. He was taken to the show in the 'Bird he used to personally own, surrounded by other Birds and a police escort. Coolest caravan ever!

Patience, grasshopper. That is the only way to go about this, and all things in life. When I see a car I want to buy, I go at it with the attitude that if I get it, fine, if I don’t, fine too. Another car always comes along. You will be happily surprised that the right car will come along for you, and your search will be complete.

I owned a 67 GTX for almost 25 years. I loved that car, but I’ve always wanted a 70 RR. So I decided to start my search to trade my GTX for a RR in like condition. After about 2 years, and many cars looked at across the nation, one finally dropped into my lap less than 7 miles from my home. It wasn’t exactly apples to apples, what I ended up with far exceeded my expectations. Now when I get into the car to drive it, it feels like I’ve owned it all my life. It was just meant to be, the original owner and his nephew have both told me that, and they are as happy as I am that I now own it.

the right car will come along in due time, you just have to be patient. You will be rewarded with just the right car for you.

My first car was a 66 Belvedere sedan in 69 but was a 4dr and had always wanted to trade it in on a 2dr sedan (post) or buy one outright and even found one on a used car lot a bit later on about a year later. Just didn't want a hardtop because 'everyone' had those but I liked the sleeper car look a lot. The sales jerk (owner?) said to bring my daddy next time but didn't know I was old enough to buy a car legally and had a pocket full of money too. Showed it to him and said bye and left but never found another nice one until 88.....and by chance. A co-worker told me there was one for sale on the corner of the main drag going into his neighborhood and it was there that morning so took off during lunch, found it and made the deal. Nothing big deal but it ran good and had factory AC which is kinda rare with those. 1150 in 1988.....

They're out there. Found a "barn find" bird myself.

Been saving up to try and buy it

Not telling you where my dream car is rotting away!

The sales jerk (
In 1974 My best buddy and I walked into a Dodge dealership. He asked a sales man (when one finally came to talk to us) he wanted to order a 74 Charger 440 4 speed. The guy just said "right" and blew us off. Little did he know the kid's Grandfather told him to "Go buy what ever you want.I'll pay for it." His Grandfather owned one of the largest coal companies in Pa.. We next went to the Plymouth dealer and kinda got the same. Till he called his Grandfather.
We walked out with a new RoadRunner. It was a small block auto but what the heck it's what was on the lot.

In the late 70's I went into a dealership asking for a specific pickup with the trim package and color I wanted and the 'salesman' asked why I wanted 'that' color (blue) and I told him I wanted that vs 'sky blue pink' and he kept on walking but I didn't. I just went back to my 'old' pickup and drove off. It's like the dealerships were full of aholes! I'm just glad I met someone that was a 'car guy' at a dealership and we're still friends today! Don't know what it's like today because I'm not looking to buy new stuff anymore....

You will find one, I would say the survival rate is very high on a superbird, like way more than half. Offering cash in front of a long term sbird owners wife is just stupid, most sbird owners have a wife that does not care about money when it comes to mopars, mine would laugh you off of the property. As far as the market change putting a bunch of sbirds up for sale I kind of doubt that, most sell a year before or after the owner dies, mine goes to my boys, it is in the family forever, money means nothing when it comes to that car, the other cars I have maybe.

Just an update on my search. So far, nothing more on the two local cars I'm looking at (I'm not too surprised). I've spoken with several really good folks about their cars as well as the hunt for my own. In talking to others, I've learned much more about the cars and different opinions about them as well as their future. It's getting cooler in my area (SE Pa.) and the local car shows are winding down. I'm trying my best to keep my head and not buy a car that will not fit my needs.

In the meantime, if anyone knows of a car that is (or will) be available, please let me know. I'm a real buyer with no nonsense or drama. It'll be a smooth transaction. Once again, I'd prefer a 440/4 automatic but ANY engine/trans combo would be considered as well as any color. It must be a real car. RM23_0A----- . THANKS!!!!!

Did you notice this one coming up for auction in January? A no reserve. Worth a look???

THANKS for the tip. Every lead is worth investigating. Do NOT hesitate to pass any information this way. That's a very nice car but I'm afraid that a 440/6 - 4 speed coupled with the associated auction fees will be well above my budget.

You never know when it's no reserve. You might get lucky.

My take is if you spot a car for sale you think might be THE car. Inquire with text but ask if you might visit by phone. It separates the tire kickers. Then be sincere and ask good questions. Make a friend. Help him relate to you. Try to be someone that pays a fair price and be someone he would like see own his car, unless he is just a turd that cares less about anything!!!

Barbee - That's EXACTLY where my mind is. I'm happy to pay a fair price for a car and I can assure the owner his car will have a happy safe home until I'm dead. The problem with that whole scenario is that I simply don't know of anyone ready to let go - hence the purpose for this post. Hopefully someone ready to sell will see it and make contact. I appreciate your thoughts. My hook is in the water. Now it's a matter of time...

^^^ I understand. Networking always gets me what I need.
Funny Bird story. Back about '95 I had a good bud 500 mi away that always had something HE said I needed. He was a hemi E body guy but was always dragging something home. He had the hots of superbirds. He had 3 superbird rollers, all needed something like a wing,or fender or ??. Take my pack at $5000. I had 2-3 complete 6 pac engines but I just did not have any love for them!!
About that same time,I had another Mopar bud that had a really slick bird. He had just built a new home. He got the bird in the garage but there was almost 2 inches to spare!!!! Said he never though about such till then!! He was an engineer. Go figure!

Great pictures! I like the one with the pointy nose and the big wing! Yes all of them!
