Folks,

I got my 66 Coronet 225ci Slant Six in June. I plan to convert to the Pertronix 1361A ignition module replacing the points later this summer. I'd like to get a new coil at the same time but not sure about the 1.5ohm vs 3.0ohm coils. The two Pertronix Flame Thrower coils are 40011 (1.5ohm) and 40511 (3.0ohm). Which coil do I need? Thanks!

Perhaps, the best thing to do is ring up Pertronix and discuss your intentions with them and use their recommendations. Consider new cap, rotor and wires as well. Because you're retro fitting a slant six engine, removing the distributor to install the Pertronix module may make the task easier. Just my opinion of course.

As per the instructions it looks like you need at least a 3.0 ohm coil for a 4 or 6 cyl using 12 volts This is the testing sheet. However I would assume that the ohms are what you need for the Petronix

Thanks folks! I will call and discuss with Pertronix. Sorry, I have been out of town for the past week.
