Which muscle car is ugly?

I was talking to Larry Shinoda once about Corvette designs. He said the 1973 Corvette was the way the designers intended it to look. Plastic front end and the ducktail chrome bumper rear end. I want another cheap C3 Corvette and drop a built SBC in it.

My Corvettes
1974 Coupe white
1966 Convertible Maroon
1972 Coupe 30K miles Blue
1971 Couple LT1 Gold
Had one vette a ’75 that I got in ‘79. A good deal with only 30k on it that was hard to pass up and the interest having one. Pretty doggy L-48 wish it had a 4-speed. When our 1st kid came along in ’82 I sold it to restore a vert that had been passed around the family for years having a back seat. Sold it for $100 less than I bought it for and all that cash and more went into the restoration. Found out I’m not a vette guy although there are a few I’d like to have…such as that ’66 maroon vette you mentioned, lol

How about a yellow 66.

Is the '71 War Bonnet Yellow? That is one of the best C-3 Corvette colors ever.

No, it was gold like this, but an LT1 with the raised hood like the big blocks had. Everyone hated the color. I passed on buying a 1966 pale yellow big block convertible. I kicked myself later.

I got to be friends a little bit with Larry Shinoda before he passed. I have a ton of stuff in my office (posters, car models) he sent me.

This is one print from a set of four. These were his sketches for the C2 Corvette.
There's a bunch of other stuff.

If you are speaking of me, I didn’t call it ugly, I called it big. The father of my high school buddy was a Mercury executive and he leased him a new 70 Torino Cobra in yellow with 4-speed, 429, bench seat, etc that I spent a lot of time cruising in. So I know what I speak of. It was reasonably quick but huge compared to my 64 Sport Fury. With the standard fabric bench seats it was also a very plain interior. I like the outside appearance - would like it even better in 9/10 scale.

I found the 71 I had to be almost identical in size to the Mopar B body cars I was used to.
Although it had slightly less headroom and a slightly larger trunk.
It didn't handle as well, either.
I was the second owner, circa 1990. 68,000 miles and still had the factory belts and hoses.

Also about the same size as a gm chevelle/cutlass/skylark/lemans.

My elder brother’s first GTO was a ’65 post in pale yellow that sure looked nice MO. No vinyl top. Always liked the old vette’s in that color too.

I like an AMC Javelin but the AMX's never appealed to me at all.

Well, dimensions don’t lie so from that standpoint I'm in error. With the lower roof line, bench seat, long hood and fastback roof line I always felt I was in a much bigger and heavier car when we took it cruising, than my 64 Sport Fury. But the SF cabin was more forward with a long trunk lid, higher stance and the cabin more open with big windows which gave it a more compact feeling to me - but apparently it was somewhat an illusion. One thing for sure, even with the standard 429 and 4 speed, it ran well, my 383 could only hang even with him through first.

Mine had the 351c 4V.

It had the honor of debunking the 351c mystique for me.

It did OK, but not a major step from any gm 350 I was used to and certainly not what legend would have you believe.

I liked that car, and would have it back, but I'm actually happier with my 318 73 Satellite, although it reminds me a lot of that torino (and of my 70 Bee).

I agree,Plymouth could have owned the pony car market,if they has made a whole new car instead of putting a fastback window on an already ugly car! They didn't learn from their mistakes and did it again with the first generation Chargers, but atleast the 66 Coronet was a good looking car to begin with. The 64 Valiant not so much.
First gen started the show!

The1961 Plymouth is the poster child for ugly cars!
A friend on mine was told me of this edsel that headed to the scrapyard from a estate.
When i got there to check it out it was a 61 Fury coupe so covered branches and vines you couldn’t see it!!!
Here are a few pics as I first got it after clearing brush.
It belonged to a Plymouth executive in 61 who special ordered with many options.
Power windows,swivel buckets,day/nite mirror,etc.
bumper tie, aero wheel, rear defroster, padded dash, mopar seat belts, trailer tow package, hifi stereo record player
3.31 sure grip,HD 3speed manual
etc.
A 1961 hurst yo-yo shifter (maybe dealer installed?)
A 1961 sun 8.5 rpm tach.
I have a rare complete 61 RHP 413 xram motor.
I’m starting restoration this fall.

I have a few other daily driver 61s. I often hear (It’s so ugly it’s cool) doesn’t bother me. Good or bad they get attention wherever they go.
I like the space age styling of all the 57-61 cars.
