I thought both huron, oh and the michigan location were still open. You should be able to call them monday am and chat about your needs.

if you can wait until march, indy swap meet, you may be able to get a show price deal on an engine. chris and company are very good people. i have spent time with the. A LOT BETTER THAN RUSS EVER WAS.

I called him the other day and man what super nice people. I couldn’t stand that prick Russ. That made my mind up on what I’m going to do for a short block. I’m dropping a block off of to him to all my machine work for it and going to buy a stroker assembly off of him also.

Update to this thread. I have an engine builder here in Mariana Florida putting together a 500 based off a 1976 440 block.

Sounds like Carolina Machine is about to re open but was hurt bad from the hurricane. Still would be worth a shot giving them a chance to earn your business I would say.

One of the things to compare when looking at engines is the work done to the block itself. There can be a lot of time spent to make sure a block is right - align bore, ensuring the right size of main housings, making sure the block is square, making sure the bores are square, honing with a stress plate, making sure the honing is actually round and consistent all the way down the bore. In many cases honing can end up with a tapered bore if not done with care. These things take time (and $$$) to do, but make a difference in both power and longevity of a block you are putting some serious power into.

I see your location is in Iowa. The Walled Lake location has old equipment. Not that it's a bad thing, but that is a long drive from Iowa for basic old school machining. Are you planning a high end build or a basic build? If it's a high end build and you are willing to come to Michigan you could try Valley Performance in Ionia Michigan. He has modern equipment and processes.

I will add that I was using Best Machine but they have closed up shop. I will probably try to use Valley on the next one.
