F-18 shoots down Syrian SU-23
First time American forces have shot down enemy aircraft since 1999
The AIM 9X (IR) missed
The AIM 120 hit (Radar)

A friend of mine was a Captain at the time, John "Dragon" Teichert who is now a Full Bird Colonel
He later became the EAFB F-22 CTF Commander...cool as a Cucumber and smarter than anyone I ever met...
He was flying one of the F-15s
