Who Likes Aircraft ?

Blade I`m not sure sometimes I think that ski is a founding rock out there:rolleyes:

great video, I looked at it on youtube, and it says that Kermits B-26 is the only intact B-26 in North America....that is incorrect....Wright Patt has one, MAPS has one, The Smithsonian, a museum in
France,

I know this Bird. Weeks bought it from David Tallichet. The plane is built from 3 different Birds salvaged out of the Yukon. Parts were literally back packed, & Dog sledded from the high country down ro the nearest rail depot. A squadron that got lost & ran out of fuel over Yukon Territory.
Plane was assembled @ CNO(Chino) then after Weeks made purchase from Tallichet, Aero Trader @ CNO did a partial resto, making the Plane airworthy. I saw the airplane a lot during work as i did work for Aero Trader & other People @ CNO. Aero Trader specialize in B-25 restos, but do a lot of other birds to. A-20, A-26, P-51, AT-6/SNJ etc.
As i've posted several times in past, my Dad was a B-26 test pilot @ Martin during WW ll & the B-26A is my absolute favorite aircraft.

I'm pretty sure that the Weeks Bird is the only Airworthy B-26. But the plane has not been flown much since the late 90's flight from CNO to Fantasy of Flight in Florida.
The Smithsonian is restoring Flak Bait, but only to static display.
Are MAPS & Wright Patterson restoring to Airworthy?

I saw her land at Kalamazoo maybe twenty years ago. A Stoch followed around the same time. At the time I didn't know who the aircraft belonged to. As far as B-26's it's my fave as well. There was too much adulation for the B25 when the B 26 had the better record. Thanks for the post.

Wright Patt does not fly any of their aircraft. MAPS is restoring theirs to fly. Damn shame the CAF's plane (and crew) was lost.

Hard to believe it's been 20 yrs, but that's about right. I believe it was 97 when the Bird left Chino. The pix i posted were taken in 95 on the ramp in front of Aero Trader.
The B-26 is a dangerous aircraft, very unforgiving & many were lost to pilot inexperience......not well suited for slow flight & losing a right engine on take off pretty much sealed the deal. But they are the highest return rate of WW ll combat aircraft. The A models with short wings(wing loading 56 lbs. sq. ft.)were not only bombers, but dogfighters too, in experienced hands,,,,,they could turn tight & fast.
