Badass. Clay Lacy in 1971 California Unlimited 1000 air race @ Mojave.......in a Douglas DC-7!
In a field of 20, (19) unlimited warbirds, Lacy & Paulson qualified among top, but had to take off last bc sanctioners were worried that the DC-7 would blow other planes off the asphalt. The DC-7 finished 6th with an avg. speed of 325....the winning Sea Fury avg'd. 344. The DC-7 turned tighter than the A-26 & was reported to be the lowest flying A/C on the 15 mile course with 15 pylon turns. It was the only time the DC-7 was allowed to compete in unlimited bc of the other pilots complaing foul over too much wake turbulence.....bust out the violins.

So;
Rumor has it that the "New" B-21 is here at Edwards AFB
The new nickname is the "StingRay"

Got a link with some info on this??
Check out the leading edge inlets in wing between engine nacelles. Looking at the vehichles on tarmac, this is old photo, before turbines, so i'm guessing those are Merlin or Allison V-12 conversions, but i'm not seeing any exhaust stacks. You got my curiosity with this post Snake.
