I've always thought that the Ju-87 wouldn't be a bad looking aircraft if the wheels retracted, although I realize that simplicity was part of the design goals.

The only bomber able to carry the 22,000 lb. Grand Slam bomb, the Avro Lancaster was also used as a test bed for jet engines. Here are a couple of variations...

The second one is actually a modified 'Lancastrian' which was a civil version of the Lancaster. Note the windows.

The Jericho Trumpets were installed on the B-1 versions but dropped in later models. The drag cost 15-20 mph. in speed. Later, some bombs had whistles on the fins to give a similar effect.

You can see the tiny propellers to drive the sirens on the 3-view drawings above. They're on the wing leading edge above the wheel spats.
