Later variants actually had the 5,250 pound thrust fourth engine for take-off use in high altitude or high temperature situations. The engine was shut down for regular flight.

This aircraft was the first type to have advanced avionics that allowed for fully blind landings (1965), useful in foggy London when flights would otherwise be diverted.

All that fancy electronic equipment meant that the landing gear was put to the side to make room for it.
