The pictures are of the JU390, but the news article below mention only the ME-264. There are no actual German records of the New York flight, and the only existing JU390 was not in France in Jan. 1944 where the flight was to have originated.
 
The P-40 belonged to Sue Parish, a member of The WASPS, and cofounder of the Kalamazoo Air Zoo.

Just a curious question for the Air Force guys out there. Carbon nanotube de-icers. Less amp draw, kinda like more pre de-icers,; not pneumatic but heating before heating fully needed ?(inside info)
 
A variation on the Horton HO229, Gotha made some changes and proposed the Go P.60. Developed in 1945, it was too late to be produced. It was to be a high altitude fighter, powered by under/over BMW 003 turbojets. With a range of nearly 1,000 miles and speed of 590 mph, it would reach 42,000 foot altitude.
