My first wife hated fast cars, guns and motorcycles and yet I had all three. Why did you marry me for then....better question is why did I marry her. Second wife liked all three somewhat but my present wife loves all three!
This, I think is the best answer. At least for me. I’ve always been fascinated by things mechanical. Guns, cars, radios, guitars, (yes, they are mechanical) and almost anything that moves. If it makes noise, so much the better. Case in point is guns. I have a pile of them. They don’t give me a bigger dick, they don’t make me tougher. They are, however, mechanical devices that can be simple or complicated yet essentially all perform the same function. For example AR family rifles and AK family rifles. I have the capability to make both from scratch. The AR requires more specialized tools and skill, the AK can and is built by children in Afghanistan with few tools and no special equipment. That fascinates me. How an automatic transmission works. How fuel injection versus a carburetor works, and how a primitive carburetor evolved to what we ultimately ended up with.
