Why Dominators produce lower ET's

Yea right:lol:

You will find a mega block and cert to 8.50.....LOL.
That's were I'm gunna stop.That's my limit.........in THIS car:realcrazy:

Doug,
Why did you pop rivet the aluminum cover on the cowl drain? Why not use the rubber flap?
Mike
All the rubber plugs in the firewall and floor are welded or sealed over with metal in case of fire. 10lb fire bottle with 3 nozzles.

Aha! Never thought about that.

Looks good Mike
Couple of questions . How much have you tweaked on the carb ? Have you checked AFRs?
I bought 1 last week to run , adapter to M1 intake . And I have been adjusting but don't feel I am quite there yet .
I have fitted t slot restrictors and lowered idle fuel restrictor jet . Looks like #79 primary jet , still has #94 rear
Will be racing tomorrow - Saturday . So will be interesting as going to be hot
Also going to try 29.5x10.5R15 Pro bracet radials (30" tall)

Tex...Nothing wrong with the 4500 to 4150 adapter. I used the TransDapt "open adapter" when I replaced my 850 Demon with my Holley Dominator (part # 80688, $799@ Summit) and picked up 3/10s of a second with NO other changes. I then replaced the open TransDapt 4150 to 4500 adapter with a "HVH" Super Sucker 4150 to 4500 tapered adapter and with that adapter I picked up another .021 in ET. (That .021 better ET ALL came between the 1000' foot mark and the 1320' foot finish line.)
I now do have an INDY Max Wedge Dominator Intake with my Dominator and it is (and has always been) OTB Jetting. I ran it like that until just this very last race (March Meet, last month). The OTB jetting was 84 primary with a 5.5 primary power valve and a 94 secondary (no power valve in secondary, of course). At this last race I merely removed the 5.5 power valve in the primary side and increased the primary jet from 84 to 92, no other changes. It made NO difference in ET, but I don't have to now worry about the power valve failing. I will probably increase the primary jet from 92 to a 94 to "square them up" as they say.
I do NOT have a AFR meter but the jetting must be close for me to run 10.158 @ 131+ with my 3800 pound sled.
Plugs look "normal" at the end of a run....no signs of detonation or anything melting down, lol.
Hope all this info helps.
PS: I have no experience with Radials but a lot of guys swear by them.
The 29.5 tall tire, I think, is the right size.
I went from a 28" tall tire with 88" rollout to a 29" tall Hoosier Stiff Sidewall tire with 93.5" rollout and lost picked up 60' from 1.44 to 1.40 and picked up about 2.5 miles per hour with NO loss in incremental times...so I guess the motor has enuf power to pull those bigger tires with no problem.

thanks Mike,
I daily drive mine so I like the powervalve . If I can pick up something like you I wont be upset:thumbsup:
I have the Moroso adapter , standard port Stealth CNC head and exhaust to the diff .
I have only ever run radials , usually run a 28"
lets see how it goes.

Mike your jetting is close to what I use to have in my old car our motors are very similar (I take that back I was only running a stock stroke 440 but same top end) but I ran 95/96 jets with a best of 10.10

YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE POWER VALVE.
My front 2 spark plugs load up until I do the water box. Keep the Power Valve for the street.

No 9's. 10.158 @131+ is the best so far.
Now my continuing "need for speed" is to shed about 150lbs off my sled to run a 9.999 and then I will be DONE.

Now Mike, we've all said that before, "if I could just hit this number". :praying:

One of these days I need to try a Dominator and a single plane intake. But I will say the 850 and dual plane Indy intake have very nice driveability driving on the street which is what I do the most. But the 850 keeps wanting a lot of jet. Do any of you guys that run Dominators drive them on the street much and if so how do you like it on the street ? Ron

Hey Ron , good to see you around . My car is my daily , only went dominator 3 weeks ago , still fine tuning . Should be happier when new Suoer Victor
goes on . Adapter and M1 single plane seem a bit mixed up

My dominator actually runs pretty sweet on the street. Not by accident though. I have the cruise leaned out and in the 14.s. Gonna be hard to take this one off.

I put about 50 miles on my dominator yesterday Plugs look just as good as the 4150. These plugs do have about a years worth of run time on them.

Ron, Put on a Dominator and a Single Plane. It will be fine on the street. Leave the power valve in the primary for street use.

I agree Mike as I run a primary Power/Valve in my 850 as I like to run one in my street car. If it was a race only car I would block it off. One day I hope to try a single plane and a Dominator. Ron

Love to see the TM6. I welded up the "divots" for the bolt holes & ground the lumps inside the ports on mine. The TM6 & TM7 worked great on the 440 to 452" motors "back in the day". I remain convinced they would be a great street manifold today.
