Tex...Nothing wrong with the 4500 to 4150 adapter. I used the TransDapt "open adapter" when I replaced my 850 Demon with my Holley Dominator (part # 80688, $799@ Summit) and picked up 3/10s of a second with NO other changes. I then replaced the open TransDapt 4150 to 4500 adapter with a "HVH" Super Sucker 4150 to 4500 tapered adapter and with that adapter I picked up another .021 in ET. (That .021 better ET ALL came between the 1000' foot mark and the 1320' foot finish line.)
I now do have an INDY Max Wedge Dominator Intake with my Dominator and it is (and has always been) OTB Jetting. I ran it like that until just this very last race (March Meet, last month). The OTB jetting was 84 primary with a 5.5 primary power valve and a 94 secondary (no power valve in secondary, of course). At this last race I merely removed the 5.5 power valve in the primary side and increased the primary jet from 84 to 92, no other changes. It made NO difference in ET, but I don't have to now worry about the power valve failing. I will probably increase the primary jet from 92 to a 94 to "square them up" as they say.
I do NOT have a AFR meter but the jetting must be close for me to run 10.158 @ 131+ with my 3800 pound sled.
Plugs look "normal" at the end of a run....no signs of detonation or anything melting down, lol.
Hope all this info helps.
PS: I have no experience with Radials but a lot of guys swear by them.
The 29.5 tall tire, I think, is the right size.
I went from a 28" tall tire with 88" rollout to a 29" tall Hoosier Stiff Sidewall tire with 93.5" rollout and lost picked up 60' from 1.44 to 1.40 and picked up about 2.5 miles per hour with NO loss in incremental times...so I guess the motor has enuf power to pull those bigger tires with no problem.
