Any suggestions or input on running a Dominator on a street/strip car?

I have no experience running Dominators on the street and find what Hemi GTS posted intriguing. All of my experience with performance carbs on the street has been with the 4150 DP's. They have a tendency to be on the rich side especially in stop and go environments but out on the road, they can produce pretty good results in fuel mileage. The best highway mileage over any other car I've used one on was with a 289 66 Fastback Mustang 4 speed with 2.80 gears running a 600 DP with a Torker intake and headers. In town mpg sucked but it pulled down 21 mpg at 70 mph and ran a flat 15 1/4 mile ET. There wasn't all that many 289 Mustangs that were nearly stock running those kind of numbers in the mid 70's especially a 289 that originally came with a 2V carb. Probably the best street/carb was a TQ! Mileage in town was 17 average with a 71 340 Cuda and on the highway mpg wasn't shabby either. The biggest problem with carbs is that people do not take the time to learn how to work on them let alone figure out how they work.....

Yes, stick to a 2 circuit. Anything out of the box will require some work If you want it to run clean. My experience is once dialed in on the bigger motors they drive around just as good as a 4150. If you can get a good buy on the older Holley dominators those can also be modified to work good as well. They require some hard parts though. This was an old 8082 I built for a hemi. Very good running carb.

I got to compare a 1050 dom vs 850 DP 4150 on my Duster (Pump gas build). Both ran same 10.80s. 4150 was alittle quicker at 60' dom picked up a little on top end. This at the time appeared to make sence to me. This told me the 850 was plenty carb for setup. Thus 4150 reacted a little quicker than 4500. But Dom probably metered better would catch it.

But reading some of the posts above? Appears my results maybe a little unique?
