Hey guy's picked up my cloned runner today. The owner said the shifter linkage and kick down needed adjustment. Anyway drove the car about an hour and all was well. Once I had it in the garage I was poking the linkage and all is intact. But now the car starts but dies out after a few seconds unless given some gas.
What the hell is my problem? "Edelbrock performer carb manual choke."
He had a manual choke hooked up to the carb attached to the throttle linkage and a spring on the other side holding the choke shut. Anyway is all this extra stuff needed.
Thanks

ill be watchin this thread im having the same problem with my carter afb dont ask why but after rebuilding the afb im thinkin about lookin at the timing but hell i know little to none about what im talkin bout anyway

Ya like I said it ran fine then just giggled some linkages and now it won't idle...Damn weird LOL

i usualy direct these type of puzzling questions to rumblefish 360 but im biased we grew up together

Spring holding the choke SHUT? That would be the first thing I looked at.

Second would be if the idle is turned up enough. Jiggling the linkage may have allowed it to close down a bit

I know he had it hooked up bizzare, on the left side of the carb he has a spring that makes the choke open, and on the right side where the throttle linkage is he has the mechanical choke hooked up to the carb linkage.

Sounds alot like a vacum leak, wouldn't be the first time one of us has poked around and bumped something else in the process.

Turned out after playing with the choke cable we got her running and idleing, the knob who owned it had a spring on the choke side holding it open and a cable on the other side to close it...just wasn't closing enough.
