Bite the bullet…..this saying came from the Civil War period. Once field surgeons ran out of morphine the soldiers were given lead bullets to bite down on while being operated on, these bullets became known as “pain bullets” and are still being found on battlefields today. Don had mentioned “Sleep Tight” which was a term that came from a time in history when rope was used to support mattresses, sleeping tight meant that you had tightened the ropes which gave a better nights sleep.
