Drove my 66 less than 25 miles since putting it back together and the new electronic regulator stopped working and broke a valve spring, which were new Comp cam valve springs. After driving the car less than 10 miles the battery stopped getting a charge. I checked all of the wiring didn’t see any problems. I grounded one of the field wires on the alternator and it jumped to putting out 17 volts to the battery. I knew than the new regulator was bad (china junk). Than after about 25 miles it developed a miss. I thought it was a bad spark plug or wire. Replaced both didn’t help. I pulled off the valve cover and the # 8 exhaust valve spring had broken. I just couldn’t believe it. I’ve used Comp cams valve train parts for yrs and never had a problem. I replaced the spring this morning and it’s up and running great again. I’m running the comp XE 274 cam which is a mild cam compared to others. I guess everyone makes bad parts sometimes I’m just glad it didn’t drop a valve.

I hate those days. It makes you want to throw in the towel. Good job at not giving up. I am having problems with my tow vehicle. It is one thing after another. I would give up on it but I cant get another truck so back to the garage to get it going(AGAIN)

LOVE THE CAR!!!

Nice car

I love your car man. It brings back memories of my triple black 66 satellite 383 4 speed which I traded in on my new 69 A12 runner ...in 69

Great lookin' car. If I were you I'd swap out those valve springs and put a a set of PAC Springs and check your spring height and geometry.

Nice looking car. I will probably consider black for mine as well. The black interior is great for being able to pick diff. colors.

Sucks huh!

I feel your pain! I had a cam go south on me, and one pin for the roller tip of a rocker go bad. All new stuff too!
