Yankee Express RestoMod Project

I dont know what kind of filler youre using but Im using the Evercoat Premium...sands extremely easy....maybe too easy...started on my second gallon and have only done the rear qrts...
In this heat thr biggest pain has been the work time... Ive been weighing my mixture which is 2% and even cutting back to 1.5 you have about 3 minutes of work time before it sets. Definitley would like a little more time as im not a proficient mud slinger....
The car looks awesome Randy, especially the rear, love the bumper!!!

Thanks! Yeah, that stuff sets up fast, especially if the panel is warm. I'm doing as little as possible in applying mud. I don't want to have big areas that go clunk when you knock on them. I don't like the black epoxy primer so I intend to get some of it in gray. I have to carry the paint in to town to get it shaken up at the hardware store.

I made a decision this morning about the Express. I decided that instead of doing a bunch of cute stuff like putting the master cylinder under the dash i'm just going to put it back where it goes. I want to drive this car sometime soon. I need to quit trying to be Foose and get 'er done.

So, I have been in and out from under the dash all day. I have the brake pedal frame mounted up and the firewall reinforcement plate holes drilled through. I have the master cylinder and booster from the pick up so that can go on it. And then i'm not having to make a bunch of custom brake lines either...since I flattened the firewall the bracket for the brake pedal was 1/4 inch to damn long. So I sliced that up and then rewelded the pieces in a different position so it all mounts to the firewall now. A lot of fooling around..lol.

Can’t argue with that. You’re still going to have a darned nice driver.

David
Thanks David. I guess i'm just going to be happy with the mods I have completed and stop trying to "do it all" and just get it finished and enjoy it, even if I never enter a show.

All the cool touches in the world don't mean a thing if it never makes it onto the road. There's also other things to consider.... I sure as hell wouldn't want another reason to crawl under the dash lol. Keep up the good work

Good point! Tonight I feel like I have been beaten with an axe handle...

While not near as ambitious as your project, I find myself in the same boat. Got to quit changing things and get her on the road. Rented a shop a year ago thinking I'd be done by now but doing it all by myself takes so much time. Spent the last 3wks building my dash cluster and nothing else. Doesn't help that it's 110 in my shop and epoxy and body putty sets up in 2mins.

Picked up front shocks, tie rod ends, brake hoses, rear wheel cylinders, undercoating, tape, and seam sealer. About time to get back out there.....

Express update.

Milestone reached today. Backed the car out onto the driveway for the first time since October of 2014. Will hook up the steering linkage tomorrow. And put the torsion bars in so the front will rise up to ride height.

I must confess that were it not for ALL of you guys, and ladies, cheering me, and others, on there would be many projects that wouldn't be as far along as they are. You all, WE ALL...are the glue that holds this enterprise together. I for one appreciate it beyond measure.

I really like the way that tail end came out, looks sweet!
