Yankee Express RestoMod Project

I went back a couple pages looking for the color name, not sure if I just missed it or it hasn’t been mentioned. Mine telling what it is? Very similar to the current color on my 65, which I don’t know what it is either. Appreciate it.

Well, I got some color on her today. Just enough to get the front end back under it so I can wheel it outside and use the garage to paint doors and hood and deck lid and small parts. I made a mistake of using a couple of different colors of primer. So parts are darker in spots but no worries because the close out panels will cover it all. THEY will be gray primer...lol. Lots of sparkle under the lights...

Dark Brown Chestnut Metallic. It's a Single stage Urethane. Color and clear all in one, although, I will be shooting clear after color sanding. It has great 'flop' in the sun and shade. Very similar to the 2017 Ford Escape Titanium color...and Turbine Bronze.

Turbine Bronze is a little browner and the Ford color has finer flakes...

It’s a great color. A couple of the pictures the color look almost like mine and a couple they look darker. Look forward to seeing the car together.

Soon I will get it painted....soon i'll have the spring chores out of the way and stable weather. Itching to get on with it...got the shots out of the way, doctors appointments coming up that have been put off. Son got his PHD and will be coming to visit in June.

So, got the mill out of storage and got it unwrapped from when RPM Racing Engines finished with it. Laid out all of the parts and thought about a plan to get it assembled. First tings first though....clean and paint the outer block. Need freeze plugs first then tape it off good and get the wire wheel busy and clean off the primer back to bare metal. Then hemi Orange Hi Temp paint, THEN get to putting it together.

Wow, you really notice Ma's offset of the engine to starboard there, eh?

Roger....you will note that the "Table" has finally bit the dust...lol.

My intent is to paint the heads a bright aluminum color and the valve covers are black with chrome ribs. Aluminum intake, red dizzy cap and red wires, chrome headers. Black oil pump and fuel pump. Chrome timing cover, billet aluminum pulley's. Not decided on water pump color yet...black or bright aluminum....

Got the mains in and the crank installed. Went to torque down the bolts and found that my pal Rick's torque wrench doesn't work. Sigh. Will rent one at the local Auto Parts store in the morning. But, the crank turns easily and all is well so far.

My wife has spoken. The car will be turquoise blue. ...and shiny.....lol. Sigh, here I go again..

Got one head and the HV oil pump, fuel pump and water pump painted today. The head is bright aluminum and the rest are VHT Hi Temp wrinkle black. The oil pump looks great against the Hemi Orange. Polished up the chrome plated timing cover and hammered the mounting holes back flat. Gonna be a great looking mill...
