Your 1rst B Body?

I lost my Mopar virginity in 1989 when I was 19 years old. I purchased a 74 Charger SE. It had a 400 engine with power everything. I got it for $250 but it needed a trans at the time. Went on later to buy a 70 Road Runner a couple years later for $500. Then found a totally rusted out 69 Road Runner for $400. But it had a good 383 Magnum, 4 speed tranny, & an 8 3/4 with 3.91 gears that I salvaged & installed in my presently owned 70 Superbee which I have owned for the past 24 years. The Superbee costed me $600 at the time with a perfectly straight body & no rust. I wish I could find some Mopars that cheap today.

my dad gave me a 68 charger rt,440 auto,in 1980 when i was 14 years old.he puchased the car new and it was my birthday/christmas present for the next 3 years.before anyone has any envy of that situation, the car had the folowing wrong with it:
300,000 plus miles, blown eng(shattered piston skirt)blown trans(all gears neutral)blown radiator, blown rear diff(shattered spiders)totally wasted brakes, and ofcourse bald flat tires.it took me 4 years to put that car back together,he did not help with money or labor.but i learned a ton from putting that car together and it started my on the way to becoming a mopar junky.i later asked him how he managed to get the car to that condition,he responded "just lucky i guess".

1st ("car") `72 Dodge Adventurer D-100 P/U, bought from 'Mom & Dad' in `79 for $2,000. Had a 360/ Auto. Later installed a cast iron `72 340 intake & 750 thermoquad, headers, dual 2 1/2" exhaust. The towing capacity (and 1/4 mile times) greatly improved!

1st A-body...Duster 340, bought in `84 for $600! (you read correctly!). Needed a complete repaint & interior upholstery. Was my daily driver while stationed in Hawaii for 3 years. Rebuilt the motor & trans once state-side and again it was my daily driver for another 3 years...it would bark the tires shifting out of passing gear! sold in `90 (why did I do that?!) :banghead:

1st B-body...`66 Belvedere II, was 'FREE' in `09. My uncles' exact words were, "Come get it out of my barn."
Copy of car 3.jpg

So I did.

But just like a 'free dog' it ends up costing you way more than 'free'...and I would do it again. :headbang:

65 Belvedere, slant6, 3 spd. bare bones bench seats, AM radio, heater, cop car beige paint. Bought in '69 for $700. Had about 30k on it and it was like new. After driving it for about a year, a friend that worked at a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership called me and said that they just had a totaled out 69 Super Bee towed in and it has a 383 Magnum+727 Tflite, so do you want it? A long weekend later I was in business.
I still regret selling that car.

My first was a 1963 Fury 2 door hard top...bought it in 1975 for $95.00...the car was black and had one small dent in the passenger right rear bumper...Iget sick when I see what this car is selling for today...I sold it to a friend in 1977 for $125.00...yeah,ouch is right...Marla:iamwithstupid:

Mine was a '73 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 340 and a slapstick trans. I bought it from my brother in 1979 for a $1.00 and had 106k miles. Drove it for 2 years, then sold it for an "econo box" while going to college....what a fool.

First(and only), 1971 Satellite Sebring, bought new for about $3200 and still own it.

66 Belvedere II bought new by my sister with the help of dad who ended up with it about a year later then I got it in 69 with 40k miles on it and still in great shape.

2nd B body was a 68 road runner drag car bought in early 84 that ran 10.60's. Divorce took care of that one

3rd and last B body is a 66 Belvedere I 2dr post. Had it for over 25 years now.

Had a nice sprinkling of mid 60's Mustangs, and a few 56 Chevies but for the most part, lots of Mopars including Darts, Challengers and Cudas and lots of pickups starting with a 69. Actually, my first pickup was a 62 Ford swb but I never did get that one on the road.

1978. '70 440 GTX. $800 drove that for a couple years. Traded for '69 Formula "S" fastback Barracuda. ripped it down after a couple years to race. sold it (gave it away) then moved to the west coast.
1984. '64 New Yorker drove it for years in California. Started a family (2 kids at a time) the car was sold along with the Harley.
Fast Forward. 2012. 1964 Dodge 330 (in Process)

(in between all that; '72 Polara, '62 Catalina, '74 Bonneville, '50 Dodge 300 w/392 hemi)

I have a problem, I think !!

15 y/o in 1974, $300 for a near perfect, needed trans band adjustments, oil filter & tune up, 1968 Charger R/T 440ci Magnum, 727tf, w/3.55:1 8-3/4, dark green w/black vinyl roof, rear stripe & interior, w/bucket seats w/head rests & console... got it from a Divorced single mother & a "hot lady" that lived just down the street, had it for maybe 10 years... I also got my parents bought new in S.F. a 68 Sport Satellite 383ci Commando 4bbl 4spd, 3.23:1 8-3/4 shortly afterwards too {Mom's grocery getter}, then I had 5 from 68-70 {2/68's 2/69's 1/70}Chargers at one time, before I was 18, Pissed my mother off big time...LOL..., now I'm on my 13th 68-71 RR now 1968 RR RM23 HT, I also had a few A & E Bodies too, a 70 Demon was one of my all time favorites, I gave it to my step father on fathers day 1977, to use as a commuter car, his Ford F250 390 4bbl truck was eating the fuel big time & because he gave me the 68 Sp-Sat, when I was younger, my Mom loved driving that old Demon too...

My first B-body was a '78 Magnum GT, bought it in '81 with around 25K on the clock, paid $4,000 for it. 360/2br/ 904 loaded w/everything except a t-top. Used it to haul the race car around for a couple years. Kept it until I needed the space and some cash to start on the Belvedere. Sold it in '92 for $2,000 and a 3:55 sure grip. Sure would like to have another one...

1st. "B" I just bought this June 66 Coronet 2 door for $400.00. It needs some rear 1/4 work but floors, trunk and subframes are all good. Have a new Alterkation, Dana and a HEMI in teh basement waiting for it to be put together.

Mind you, bought my first "A" 69 Swinger 340 in 1973, still have 3 Darts, two of which are 340 cars.

I have to take that back, bought the ex wife a 1978 Magnum XE, 400 BB. somewhere around 1988. Put a 440 in it for her to race on club clash.

1985 71 satellite 383...2 barrel $300...same year 72 road runner 440 spd $500.....like a FOOL I put the 440 and all the raod runner stuff in the satellite....and scrapped the road runner....all this over a big dent in the fender....wish I would have kept the RR....75 furry in about 88 $200...72 charger in 91 $2500..still have that one....had Cuda's all in high school.

1969 Dodge Charger in 1971. I learned how to drive in a Corvair.

My first B body was a 68 Charger B5, black top and B5 bucket seat car with a 318. The car needed a lot of work. My second was a 70 Coronet R/T one of one that I owned for 12 to 15 years not really sure how long.

Now my fist Mopar or Mopars was two 1970 Challenger one was an R/T the other an SE bought both for 350 delievered to my house. The R/T needed a front end and missing dash vin# but had build sheet and all hidden numbers matched the fender tag and build sheet.

I sold them a year later for 2500 and sold the Charger for 1500 and kept my Coronet R/T to restore. Got sick and couldnt do it and now I have no Mopars, but working on chaning that.
