Your 1st Mopar

Oh man I just love this topic! These are nice stories because overhere (the Netherlands), these stories just don't exsist (for Mopars ofcourse).

I first drove vintage aircooled V-Dubs. Then a buddy of mine bought a 1968 Mustang and I was hooked to the V8 sound. A few years later (2002) I bought myself a 1968 Roadrunner. That really lite a spark in me that is now called 1965 Dodge Coronet 2dr Sedan...

mine is my 70 roadrunner that my dad gave to me he had it for 20 years it is the one car i will never sell

1951 Dodge Meadowbrook. Had several 49-53's. Loved the fluid drive and the cars were indestructible for a kid. Bought my first running car for $53.00 at the age of 12.

Well, my first mopar is my 1966 Satellite that I bought earlier this year. I sold my 1964 Buick Lesabre to buy it and could not be happier. I kinda miss the Lesabre though.:icon_pale:

My Grandfather gave me his 1969 New Yorker....It had a 440 and was the fastest thing on wheels...So I thought at the time......

That car gave me my first ticket as well.... "Un-necessary noise" the cop called it...

I called it laying down rubber on main street...:rolling::rolling::rolling:

My Grandfather Had A 68 Chrysler With A 440 In It And I Remember Him Following Me Over To The Chrysler Garage. Both Of Us Got On The Interstate, Him Behind Me In My 63 Max-Wedge And I Remember Nailing The Throttle Of My Plymouth And That Big Chrysler Pushing My Azz Up The Road! Could Not Believe That Thing Ran That Fast! Car Was Yellow With A Green Vinyl Top! Sick Lookin'!

My first Mopar was in 1986. I was 16 years old. A 1969 Dart Custom. It had a 318 with headers on it. Green with green interior that looked like a Koon dog got loose and chewed on it. My Brother loved Mopars and my Dad had a small used car lot in 69-76. He sold Chargers, Roadrunners, even had a Superbird on his lot. He liked his Oldsmobiles and Mustangs, but he liked the Mopars too, they were good sellers for him in NE PA. This car was bought by me years later when we moved to Hickory, N.C69 Dart 002.jpg69 Dart 003.jpg

My first, second, and third are all long gone.

First was a 69 383 RR 4 speed couple bought used from a private party when stationed in San Diego. He had bought it for his son, who had not been "good." I had a 63 Chev SS 327 that I part traded and some cash. After I'd had it awhile, had saved some money, was getting ready to repaint it, upgrade the brakes and tires, I called my buddy stationed up in Sacramento (Davis) who said "why put all that money into it, buy MINE, I'm getting married!!!"

So he went from a 70 440-6 RR, Dana 3.54, 4 speed, headers, 800 Holley and the sixpack in the trunk, to a VW camper bus!!! I flew up to Sac one weekend and drove it back to Miramar. The car (in the FIRST gas crunch) later got a 340 swapped into it. That thing would get 17 1/2 MPG at 70+ mph!!

In between I had a 426 64 Dodge, which I later put a 440 in, traded off the body for a 70 Cuda body that had been raced at Pikes Peak, or so I'm told.

Present car is a 67 Dart, first A body I've had.

69 Coronet R/T. Bought in 1988 for $3450. I was 35 years old then. It's out in the driveway right now.

my first Mopar was a 1970 Road Runner. i bought it from my friend in 1983 for $600.00. it was B5 blue, 4 speed, original interior, and had more putty in it than metal, but i fell in love with it and had to have it. when i got it , it had a 400 in it with a spun bearing, so i got a 383 and hypo'd it up to the point of dangerous and deadly. it sat in a huge parking lot for about a year before i had money to buy it, but it looked so pathetic just sitting there....so i took it home and loved it....THEN WRECKED IT)...I WAS SO SAD ABOUT THAT... sad thing is...my friend sold me that car and bought a 69 Camaro (vomit ). the next 30 or so years i would literally have dreams of that car. in my dream i was driving it and remembered how it felt...handled...whipped the **** out of corvettes....ah...memories. i had to have another one and thats why i bought the Purple one!....I CANT AND WONT LIVE WITHOUT IT AGAIN !005.jpgold rr pix2 001.jpg012.jpgsouth park pix 026.jpg

Mine was a 69 340 4 speed GTS, loved that car and beat so many chevys with it! I kept it a few years, then bought a 340 Duster and many more to follow! My current mopar is a 67 Charger 383. The guy I sold the GTS to called me a few months later to see if I wanted any parts off it, it had been stolen out of his garage and the kids must have played dukes of hazzard with it and wrecked it as well as busting all the glass and sliced up the interior. I was so sick when I saw it.

My first Mopar (age 17) was a 67 318 Dodge Charger, After touring around in Chevy's for a year and buying this car i was hooked on the feeling. Always did like a lot of cars, but after the Charger Mopar became a sought after car with me.

Got my first MOPAR in 1969 when I was 18. It was a light gold metallic 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 2 door hardtop with a 383 4bbl automatic on the console. Bought my 2nd MOPAR new in 1971, a Plymouth Road Runner in Petty Blue.

Mine was my high school graduation present a new 1968 Super Bee....383 ,727, 3:73 gear
and I still have her to this day with 51k miles on her......

This is an old thread brought back to life.... My step father Bob was a die hard car guy, mostly Ford trucks & mainly Pontiac's, but had many cool Mopars before I knew anything about cars too, the 1st car I really remember other than his 35 Ford Pick-Up Hot-Rod, or 64 GTO, was a 59 Fury, just like the one in the add below... When I was 8 or so my parents went to a S.F. Plymouth Dealership & bought my Mom a 68 Sport Satellite 383 4bbl 4 spd...LOL...., Dark Green w/white vinyl top & bucket seat interior, he didn't like her driving "his" 64 GTO 389 4spd..LOL... the brand new 68 Sport Sat. I would get the car much latter on, in my early 20's... My 1st real car was a 68 Charger R/T, 440 Magnum, 727auto, 3.55:1-8-3/4" rear, Dark Green w/black vinyl top, bucket seat black interior w/console, purchased from a local neighborhood, young divorced single Mom, for $350, she thought it needed a transmission, also she couldn't afford the gas in 1974, it only needed tranny fluid & band adjustments, tune up & some TLC, I was only 15 y/o when I bought the car, only had my learners permit, I had that car with probably 10 different engine/trans combos in it, from the original 440 street car, to a built little 318ci "big block killer", to a blown 513ci race car, before I finally sold it, to my older cousin Joe in "1985-86, I think it was", sorry guys no digital photos, I wish I still had that damn car... I've owned many different muscle cars & brands over the years, I'm on #13 68-71 RR's now, a dozen 68-70 Chargers, a few Satellites, Barracudas, Demons, Darts, sometime 3-5 cars at a time, but I loved that 1st 68 Charger R/T the best of any car I've ever owned....

I got a set of chargers a '72 & '73 when I was 16. Talked them of a guy for $700! The '73 was origanally a 318 car but it had a tight 360 interceptor eng in it. Ran like a champ brown, faded, open pipes cause the exhaust had fallen off, & i had to reach underneath the car to shift (until I discovered "plumbers tape linkage sys") I loved that car. The '72 was a Hot Aug. 9th's ride! BB 400ci completely orig. except some chrome valve covers, and eng bling. Nobody could get that car to run though. 9 owners in 12 yrs! til the last one was towing it back from Reno after the car show, & broke the tow bar. It dinged the hood and dented up the blinker panel a lil. he was so pissed he gave it to the tow truck driver! & I got it from him. All that was wrong with it was a burned connector in the fuse box where it snaps together through the firewall. I drove it once after I figured it out then it was stolen & I found it parted out and smashed up in a junkyard. (Thanks to an EX!)

My first car when I was 16 (1971), it was a 1969 Super Bee, 383 automatic. T5 Copper Poly, black vinyl top, white bumblebee stripes, power bulge hood, black interior. I traded it in on a brand new 1973 Ralleye Challenger with a 340 Magnum automatic, F1 Pale Green, black vinyl top, black interior. Sold it on 28 December 1976 (the day before I went in the Army) for $700. I'm still kicking myself in the *ss for doing that. I'm driving a 1978 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham hardtop, Cadet Blue Poly, black vinyl top with a 400 now.
