I have a couple of inches before the air cleaner tags the under side of the hood scoop.
What would cause a crack in the carb.? It hasn't backfired... Wouldn't that be a major vacuum leak.?
I'm wondering if the car had a percolating problem before we bought it. It had an eighties style cool...
What I don't understand is why it didn't boil this summer. Why now that the temps are cooler.?
There's a 24"+ hole in the hood for the air cleaner, how else can I regulate the intake temp.?
Thanks again for any info...
I have the above mentioned problem with the carb on the 451. After an hour, the carb bowl is empty, and requires a few splashes of gas to get it primed again. Unfortunately it's now draining back through the intake and into the cylinders, and into the oil pan. What can be done to prevent this...
I need a back seat for our 66 Belvedere(Insurance is cheaper if the car has a back seat). I will have the seat recovered so color and/or condition of the covering doesn't really matter.
Thanks in advance, Bill
I'm needing the head light buckets and what ever else holds the headlights in. I have the fender and the aluminum(?) grill extension. I need everything else to hold the headlight in. My buddy found a universal headlight set. I'm not real wild about putting something like that on the car...
That's what's taking so long with this thing. I pay for everything it needs with cash. And yes, when the first person we saw gave on the maiden voyage gave us a thumbs up, worth every penny and hour..
Same here. That first laugh comes as the vehicle leaves it's "nesting" spot it has sat in for umpteen days/months/years. And yes, that smile stays on for a few days after the first run.
At this time, it's more of a "Frankenstein" living. Awkward, makes lots of noise, scares women and children, and not the prettiest one around. But, it IS living.
I didn't get any pics of us tooling around in the car. I was to busy laughing like a little school girl...

This pic has the old rear tires on it. 275/60/15's are squeezed in the wheel wells now.
I hope this is in the right thread.
Yesterday my buddy and I took the Belvedere around the block for a test drive. I laughed like a little school girl. What a blast. We got a "thumbs up" from a feller sitting in his Sebring along side the street(I'm sure he heard us long before he saw us)...
Boy do I feel embarassed. My buddy and I jacked the back of the car up yesterday to disconnect the shocks, and see if there was a way to get the rear lower and smoother riding. As I was looking at the shocks, I noticed the pinion snubber against the body. We jacked the body up, lowered the...
FINALLY got most of the pinkish/purple stuff out of the transmission. There is just a faint tint to the fluid. I am guessing it was Skydol. All the stuff listed on Skydol's site described it to a "T".
The Belvedere has air shocks that do not air up/have any air in them. I'm hoping to disconnest the shocks on Saturday. I'll update when I get the shocks disconnected.
The lip of the fender is 2"-2 1/2" above the rim on a set of 275/60/15's. Is that a little high for drag racing?
And, the...
