Thanks for your input. Thought I had it figured out, but when the alternator hangs from the top pivot bolt it is/looks misaligned. Appears that it needs to tilt down at the front but can't the way it currently is. Do I have the correct upper alternator bracket? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have a 489 but most threads for a 742 reference starting with a .090 shim.

Did you call them to discuss this issue? Its possible you were sent the wrong shift handle. If I had paid them the big bucks that's the first place I would be calling.

BTW, they also have 4.89s listed for $128

4.30, one of motives dealers is blowing them out for $115 a set for 742s, discontinued. I will post pics of the pattern tonight (god i hope it goes well) and then see how they sound in a day or 2.. I should start at .090 and work up or down from there?
