    8.75" set up - questions - help

Could you refresh my memory whether this is a 742 or 489 case? A few things I've noticed in the past on bearing race with uneven wear. When you press the bearing on the pinion be very careful to not press against the bearing cage and distort it. If you distort the bearing cage it will have a...

    8.75" set up - questions - help

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/howto/mopp_0308_mopar_rear_end_gears_set_up/viewall.html This installer recommended starting at .030 pinion shim for a bare case. I don't need a picture. I was just curious of the defect. Maybe a new gear set is in order. Good luck...

hard starting and bogging problem on my 73 roadrunner 318+2

Good point and also make sure it doesn't continue dripping out of the booster once you shut the engine off. A dirty air bleed causes that most of the time. Pull the oil dipstick and see if it wreaks of fuel. Oops didn't read the complete thread. The spring returns the pump to a static position...

    8.75" set up - questions - help

The amount of pinion shims that you used sounds excessive. Most of the time pinion shim thickness is .018 to .040. This isn't set in stone of course. If you were planning on another gear set anyways maybe it would be worth your while to buy a pinion depth tool and set these gears up again. I...

    8.75" set up - questions - help

What the was the thickness of the shim that was in the case from the previous set up? IMO the coast pattern is also important. Due to the fact every time you let off the gas you are coasting on the coast side of the gear with the rolling weight of a vehicle (hence the noise). Why didn't you file...

    I must be missing something

The easy stuff should already have been looked at. The original post is very vague. As far as my post being way out there it's not. I had an RV brought to me last year by some backyard wrenches wanting me to put a carb on a 360 because it had an occasional backfire. After going through a laundry...

4-spd with Nitrous - Best Way to Run?

four speed car = be careful. I would use a microswitch on the carb only and wire it to pull timing out (retard) when microswitch is active. Super easy timing retard with MSD. Just my opinion not gospel.

    I must be missing something

Exhaust valve not opening enough...worn camshaft or lifter. Possibly collapsed lifter, bent pushrod. Usually the back fire is more consistent and severe with these issues. Pull valvecovers, pull coil wire off and crank over observing valvetrain movement. This is in addition to what was said above.

Yes you can replace vents from underneath without removing the dash. But getting them out with the windshield in probably isn't gonna happen.

    new forged crank

I thought 413 cranks had 8 flexplate bolt holes like a hemi crank does. i've seen numerous 440 forged cranks with the tabs hanging off the rode throws. It will work in a 440 regardless.
