What did you do to your Mopar today?

Well, I did not do anything today after the problem we had yesterday putting the engine back in, so here is the story:

Had everything ready to go back in the engine bay. Hooked up the engine to the hoist and started the process. We were so close and wondered why the engine would not marry up to the transmission, then realized the machine shop took out the tranny studs out of the back of the block. So then started to pull the engine back out of the engine bay when the most catastrophic thing happened. The pin holding the hook (which was holding then engine) BROKE. My engine dropped about 6 inches into the engine bay. So here is the damage. Flexplate completely bent, New oil pan and pick up ruined. Fortunately we had everything out of the engine bay... and also some scratched paint. First time I have ever seen this happen and the guy helping me said the same thing. So now set back about a week, waiting on new parts now.

Sucks.

My son took it out for a photo shoot to try out his new lens. I haven't seen the pics yet but will post up a few when I do.

Went to a different JY yesterday.

Had a 79 New Yorker 5th Ave (R body).

Was 360-4 and had sunroof.

Plan was to get guts from s/r, but I forgot a phillips (?!?). However I did score the entire cruise control system complete with the 4 barrel throttle and kickdown linkage. Also yet another carb throttle stud (5 in 7 days). Also some kinda hard to find misc brackets and spacers, etc. $25.

I also got the award for "best improvised tool of the day" for my steering wheel puller made from a lumina hood hinge bracket, and several bolts, a nut and some spacer washers.
Ended up not keeping the wheel for my Dakota (leather and hard to find) but now regret it.

I threw in a picture of my 1957 Belvedere that I took for a drive yesterday...

Worked on my coronet all day. Got the oil dipstick switched out. (old one was damaged at the base). Also got the msd ignition working (tested and worx). Primed the oil pump and installed the distributor gear and dizy. Hoping i'm close on the timing. Used a piece of wire to determine TDC and backed it off 40* BDC. 2 light blue springs and blue bushing in the msd distributor. Ran out of daylight. Will have to wait till tomorrow.
Debating on pouring gas down the vent tubes of the avs or taking the top off and priming it that way. I really hope this thing fires with as little cranks as possible.

Replaced the fuel sender and installed a new speedometer cable

Now I have a working fuel gauge that doesn't go past 3/4 and a speedometer that thinks I'm doing 90 when I'm really doing 50 :head_smack:

Would someone help me decode this 1969 Coronet 500 fender tag top to bottom left to right; 24111 266530 9a288664 / 864 641 080 K51 / 1X / W1 W1 PSR86 / WP23 7E41 533 604 230853? I also would like to know if I should clone it or not?

I drove mine today for a little while. I forgot and had to stop and plug the instrament panel back in and screw the speedo cable back on. It ran pretty good. Only thing is f'n turn signals don't work at all. Everything worked just fine after I got it all fixed back in October. Hoping its the turn signal flasher. Didn't feel like getting involved in it today.

Had the tail shaft bushing replaced today.

Would've done it myself, but for the price my transmission guy did it for me, it just wasn't worth the hassle

I took my car in to a shop to get some stainless head pipes made up from the Dakota exhaust manifolds to the X-pipe system and they used a lift that looked just like the one your car is on. It was a little bit wider than the wheel track of my car so 1/3 of my tire hung off the edge. When it was done, both front tires (BF Goodrich) had lumps in the tread and I had to replace them. :angry1: The exhaust work was excellent though.

Tried to install my new 440 Source water pump pulley (old one has been pinched in the v landing) only to find that it is too big. Old one measures in at 6.25 inches, this new one is at 6.75 and it hits the balancer pulley. Drat.

Look at the B_I_T_C_H, drove it around the neighborhood & wished I had more damn money to finish her... Economy here really sucks

drove her home from the shop...and finished the break in on the rear diff...now i have to remember not to push it for 300 miles...it would help if my odometer/speedo worked!!
