yes your right they do have 1/16 rings. are sure the dome is solid and not hollowed out ?. how thick of a head gasket to get it down to 9.1 ?

Nothing, including companies lasts forever, and IMO, it was good while it lasted, as also I'm a true Craftsman guy, who worked at Sears during holidays in the early 50's.
