cocked servo
Well, in my 30+ years of building, I've seen the cocked L/R servo problem quite often and have found that grinding off the majority of the lower land to where you can "roll" the piston in it's bore without the lip seal binding a good fix. I was reffering to what the builder told...

The detents are in the valve body....meaning a spring and ball on a rooster tail for the "clicks". That's where I would look first. Get to the root of the problem.

The flare occurs because the front band is releasing before the 3rd clutch applies. This can be caused by the band adjustment being to loose, OR it's worn out along with the 3rd clutches. You can try tightening the front band up. Loosen the locking nut, tighten band until you bottom out, back...
There's definitely a front clutch problem....it's not releasing, the clutches might be welded from excessive slippage. At any rate it's an internal problem and the unit will have to be removed and dismantled for inspection.
