is 500hp realistic, thinking about a turbo.

Thats hilarious. There's thousands of people racing on live axles including Dana 60s. My chassis is already built. subframes are tied together, lots of chassis bracing, quick ratio pitman arm, Hotchkiss dearched leafs, torsion bars, 1-3/8 front anti rollbar, 2 way adjustable shocks. Decent...

is 500hp realistic, thinking about a turbo.

As far as staying n/a, it just doesn't suit the builds end goal. Drivability suffers, a lot more valve train stress etc. If I was going to tear into the motor, ide just build a stout little small block and boost that instead. I have enough experience with forced induction on other cars to know...

is 500hp realistic, thinking about a turbo.

Hi guys long time listener first time caller. I have a 68 Coronet that I intend on road racing with a dana 60, a833 and a 383 with a 440 source heads, forged crank, cast pistons and unknown rods/compression ratio. I don't remember the cam but it had the word purple in it. It's kind of a dog...

    Dana 60 green bearings

Both my bearings seem to have fit to the retaining clip Well luckily. The brake kit was super basic assembly overall. It went together so easy I'm confident it's wrong. Thanks guys

    Dana 60 green bearings

Thank you guys. I'm going to leave them out, and also check to see I'm not preloading Anything. As for the ebrake, I'm not sure what I'm going too use yet. It's going to be a hand lever pull setup from a junkyard with some home depot cable running to whatever the kit supplied. however i can...

    Dana 60 green bearings

Hi everyone I have a dana 60 from a 69 b body and I'm switching it to disc brakes using the green bearings and the right stuff kit. The project has been apart a while and i forgot a lot of stuff in the meanwhile. Well it's time to put the axles back in, and i have 1 question. I don't know what...

Master cylinder / residual psi / prop valves

Hi everyone I have a 68 coronet that started life with 4 drums. I then purchased a right stuff detailing front disc swap which I installed, along with the master and proportionality valve included in the kit. I now decided I was rear discs and plan to purchase the right stuff detailing rear...

    Dana 60 questions

I didn't check the pattern on the gears before i disassembled it, but it definitely was way off. It was disturbing how loud and apparent the gear/bearing howl was after i put exhaust on the car, yet it had lived strong to nearly 20 years of launches in a car that could pull the front tires off...

    Dana 60 questions

I agree I chose a big hill. But I've been collecting things and I'm ready... I'm going to check out the manual, and seek better info. She surely looks pretty. 68 Coronet 383 a833

    Dana 60 questions

I cannot seem to upload a photo, i think my account is too new. I understand it's unlikely to get help with question #3 but it appears like the "washer" would go into the pinion shaft and fits snugly over the splines. Thanks everyone

    Dana 60 questions

Hi everyone, I'm rebuilding a dana 60 with different gears and bearings. This is my first axle I've ever rebuilt. I have a few questions... #1. I was told with the pinion nut tightened too 120ft/lbs i should have 20 pounds of rotational drag spinning the nut. Is this drag measured solely...

Don't be afraid of BIG torsion bars!

Cool! I have a huge box of suspension parts waiting to install, 1.10" torsion bars included. Was indeed worried but not so much now.

    a833 linkage/arms

Thanks for the replies. I ended up solving my issue using my existing arms. I replaced all my shifter bushings, found one was missing and one was wore out of round. Readjusted everything and it works well. Still some fine adjusting to do, and for whatever reason the only way my 3/4 tab works...

    a833 linkage/arms

Hi everyone first time poster here. I recently changed the transmission on a 1968 coronet 383, from a '68 date code a833 to another '68 a833. The "old" transmission was a crashbox, and because it was always rammed into gear, I believe this hid the issues im having now with the new...
