1964 Belvedere

Starting a thread about my 64 belvedere that I bought in dec 2014.
The car was cruising the streets in Texas before it made it way over the atlantic ocean to Sweden.
Factory ac and 383 car. (now 76 440)

This is what I´ve done so far to the car during this winter.

2.76 ring and pinion is replaced with 3.73 (limited slip).

Tf-2 shift kit ( newer 727 so the car has a floor shifter, will in the future make the push-button work again.

Hughes 3000 torque converter.

fixed the neutral safety switch (they had the 64 switch in the newer trans).

New oil seals in the trans.

Have ordered new doorpanels from sms auto.

Still looking for armrests.

Found a nice instrument cluster with gauges on ebay. The prev owner had installed an aftermarket speedometer and painted the cluster black! More on that later.

I pulled the steering box apart and changed the oil seals and cleaned it up since it was painted black, filled with correct oil.
The box was filled with grease! What happens is that the grease will pop the seals.

Might check with Classic Ind. for the armrests. That's where I got mine. Look fairly decent.

All I can find is the 15 inch long armrests on their site. I believe The belvedere should have the short 9-11 inch.

I have a thread regarding the armrests on early b body, but it´s a jungle, seems there is 3-5 different bases.

maybe the early A-body bases are the correct ones?????

I LOVE that car/body style.
It was "1-step" ahead of the very unique and desirable 1964 Dodge Polara, witch I do love also.

This is the car I will try to beat in the quarter, the valiant has now days a 273 with 175hp nitrous, 4 speed, 4,30 rear and slicks and weigh about nothing.
He sucks at updating his thread! (Yea!! That's right, you heard me! I know you cant stay away from this thread.)

Yeah, know what you mean on the 64 stuff!

Right now looking at the latest Classic catalog. Shows as 'new' items 11" bases and pads for 64s. You might look at their website, and take a peek. The pads are probably black...doing the color as needed bit. Beats nothing! So, they might have what your looking for.

Not positive on this...but as far as 64 armrests...

For the B bodys, thought they were the same size. Only dif was for the Sport Fury (maybe Fury, too), where the bases were chrome. Savoy, and Belvedere bases were colored.
Lol! No, don't take that to the bank.

Loosing my mind over this, according to the classic ind. site, there are 3 types of pads listed for 64 10, 10,5 and 11 inch.
The 11" bases are listed to fit A bodies.
Think your right regarding the colored bases on the belvedere and savoys.
Maybe have to post a wtb on used armrests so I can get the right ones.

Do you have any older pieces to work from? Think besides the overall length bit, is the mounting screw spacing.
No...I have not slapped my new store bought bases to my door panels, to make sure they fit. I'll make a point tomorrow, and report back. Mine's a 64 Sport Fury.

Pads the same dif...depends on the options kinda, if ashtrays in the rear, or plain jane. Only certain pads fit the certain bases, as far as I know.

The car came with home made door panels and no armrests when I bought it.
The sport fury had the long 15" armrests at front.
would be nice if someone had the belvedere armrests and took some photos and mesaurements of them.

Bases for my 64 Sport Fury are indeed 15" for front, 12" rear.

Tried looking in my 64 parts book...but, might be missing those pages. Off hand, I did a quick search for 64 Belvedere. From one interior photo I looked at, front base is colored, and short of the door handle. Could be possible to look up any photos online, to get a better idea what you are looking for.

Found a nice cluster on ebay and painted it "chrome"
The black cluster was painted with a brush and had an aftermarket speedometer installed by some previus owner.

The gauge cluster/ bezels and switches are done.
Engine is painted and sitting in the car togetter with the transmission.

The plan is to convert the pushbutton mechanism to work with newer 727, can´t be rocket science.:icon_winkle:
If the Imperial service can do it, I might just as well.

Everything from 63-64 has that pointed snout...seems to be a great year for those!

Finaly got the car ready for the streets.
The speedo cable broked last weekend, ordered a new (ca3004).
Had a exhaust pipe flange leak, fixed that.
Seems working pretty good, some minor kickdown adjustments will be in order.
