1964 Dodge 440 power to manual brake conversion

Greetings I am about to change from power to manual brakes on my car because I need room to install my max wedge manifolds. I bought a manual brake pushrod and new master cylinder. Is there a different firewall reinforcement plate needed? Anything else I will need?

The firewall bracket is different but could be modified to work. The brake peddle arm is longer and mounts higher on the PB cars that I have taken parts off of
You might have to find a different one.

Mr S, not trying to sway your plans, but have you considered running headers instead ? I installed the MW exhaust manifolds, and they look, and work awesome, except for the heat factor. I can literally throw a raw chicken on mine, and eat it when I get to where I'm going. They really hold the heat for quite some time also, so the hood needs to come up upon arrival. I had mine coated, to avoid painting, so that may have something to do with it, along with the build specs ? For a driver, I would do mine differently again...

watching.... doing the same thing to my 62. i have a non power car to rob parts from but its a stick. can i just redrill the hole in the arm to relocate so i can keep the auto peddle?

Some of the brake peddle arms had 2 holes drilled at factory. The peddle height can change a lot also.

I put the manual pedal in and modified the firewall plate.

My 62 arm has the power and manual holes drilled i it already.. your probably will also, manual is the top hole.

Look at your arm HS, you should see a hole about 1" below the current hole.

I have had 3 64 fury with factory PB and they had a longer brake peddle arm and it hung higher with a different bracket that did not allow enough room to remove the brake peddle arm. The complete bracket had to be removed to change to a different arm.

Thank you all for the replies. I really hope I find the pedal bar has the two holes drilled. I'm hoping to limit my time upside down under the steering column. Was difficult 25 years ago when upgrading my Dart. I was actually in shape then. Can just imagine what it will be like now.
Vandan I have always loved the look of max wedge cars. To me they just have to have the correct manifolds. I have them and the correct exhaust so I will install them. If the manifold heat causes issues I can always take them off
Retractable I will reach out if needed. Hopefully it stops with the -10 degrees out soon so I can get this and a couple other upgrades completed by spring.

My advice is to remove the seat and stack up cushions or moving blankets so the floor is level with the door sill.
It's well worth the time.

You are likely to have heat issues with your power steering hoses too as they were not considered in the design. My return hose is near touching the exh manif so a heat shield is required!

My brake pedal was drilled for both power and manual brakes so that was easy, but I think I had to mod the firewall bracket slightly too.
