My 1965 Coronet with 48k original miles takes some cranking time to start after sitting for a few days. If I use starting fluid, one crank and it starts. I just replaced the fuel pump (was leaking fuel into my crankcase), replaced the fuel filter and the battery is always on a trickle charge. If I start it after sitting overnight, no problem. Strong crank always. Can this be just a normal characteristic of a car this age?

It’s just the “new, great” gas formulation for fuel injection & EPA rules. “They” don’t care about carburetors!

Agree; it is today's more volatile fuel evaporating away, rather than anything failing in your car's fuel system. Also, shift your automatic transmission to NEUTRAL, when starting up. This will allow your transmission to pump back any fluid to the torque convertor, that has drained back to the pan while sitting. This is a common TorqueFlite thing.

Appreciated but mine is a 4 speed.

Same issue after the car sits a week or more. Within 3 days of running she starts fine but after that it takes a few crank cycles to get fuel back to the carb. Product of today's fuel.
Bought this fill bottle from Amazon to fill the bowls and she starts first roll over. Figure this is better than running the starter so much.

After it sits for the few days you are referring to, before starting it, open the choke and manually move the throttle to see if in fact you are getting fuel from the discharge nozzles or not.
