1967 Coronet Deluxe

coming along there pretty good ,your doing some good work there ,keep it up and keep us updated thanks for sharing :headbang:

Well I got the undercarriage primed and partially undercoated before I ran out. This will probably be where the body stays until next spring as its getting to be time here real soon for me to store it again. I am going to pull the engine and trans and get them painted and ready to go in in the spring. Plus I'll do small stuff like work on the gas tank repair rust on the passenger fender etc. I attached a snap shot of where I am to date with the body and undercarriage.

Looking real good KB, thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys. Its a real cluster F... of colors right now, blue, brown, black, green...

I think for spring I am going to get a gallon of undercoating to finish this thing off underneath. I really only got a light coating over the rear wheel wells and trunk extensions and I'd like to be able to really layer it on there but already went through 4 spray cans. But I think I will wait til spring since its cooling off and I want it to cure. Heck next week they are talking highs in the upper 40's around here.

Thats ok I need a break from the body anyway. I am anxious to paint that hemi and make it look MEAN..

Well no progress on the Coronet. I ended up picking up a trailer last weekend and working on that a bit. Got a good deal on it and still have to re-wire it and put on new lights and decking. Already straightened out a few kinks, added some stiffeners and moved the jack so I can open the tailgate.

I plan to pull the engine on the Coronet this up coming weekend weather permitting.

Today was ok with the weather but ole man winter has been hinting with some cold.. hope you get the weather you need this weekend.. Nice trailer, that should come in handy, I just gave a camper away to a guy who wants a car hauler, dual axle will be a plus..

That undercarraige looks nice and clean.I'm sure you will get good use out of that trlr'

Well I got the engine and trans pulled (hopefully for the last time) this weekend and the car stored for the winter again. I feel like I just went through this whole exercise. Oh well the perks of living where it snows. So you won't see too many body photos for a while though hopefully ill get some paint slapped on the Hemi real soon. I cant wait to hear this bad boy run.

Your not alone with that, im kind of wondering what it will look like all painted up.

You and me both, I cant wait. It will probably be the end of next year before it gets painted if I am lucky. I don't have much steel work to do but I do have lots of filler and sanding to do and no place to do it. So I have to figure that one out.

I plan to modify the fuel tank, finish the pass fender, paint the engine and get all that stuff done this winter. But getting the body done will be a troublesome process.

I also plan to acquire most of my needed parts like a clutch and a set of exhaust manifolds since I think headers are out for a while unless i can't get anything to work. (mostly a budgetary issue, even making them yourself is a little expensive)

I'm sure you will be able to find some small things to do over the winter to keep busy.I know i will be doing the same thing. Reminder to self:fill up kerosene jug.

Photos from pulling the engine back out and storing the car. I haven't made any progress on the engine yet as I have been working on everything else before it gets cold and snows. It won't be long and I will start working on the engine here...though I could use a budget enhancer.

I got some work on the engine done today. I finished the oil pan and pick up tube as well as painting the block. I still have work to do like painting the valve covers and cleaning up the aluminum, painting the pulleys..etc. So its a work in progress but the block came out great. I elected to go with body color for that custom look. Lets hope the paint holds up.

I also put oil in the pan after priming the pump, then turned the engine over by hand to make sure it pulled oil and pumped it out of the oil filter housing, then put the filter back on and turned as fast as i could to pump some oil into the bearings and valves. Also put some more oil in the cylinders for storage. So it was a good day.

I hope that paint holds up to! It really looks good on it and when the aluminum is shined up, any chrome accessories you might add on, its going to look great. Hope it does work out for you to get headers, be a real cool add on for it..And the car.

Thanks Ron. I think the color looks great on there. I cleaned up the heads a bit while I was prepping the block but I think I am going to pull the timing cover off to make cleaning that easier (and safe for the paint). There are lots of nooks and crannies and i think it might be worth a couple bucks to have it hot tanked or maybe just throw it in my dishwasher (see if i can convince the wife of that one).

Headers are still up in the air. If I can find a way to do them cheaply I will make a set but otherwise in the interest of getting the car drivable I may have to go with a set of manifolds. This spring is going to be a money sucker already trying to get the thing up and running so spending $200 building a set of headers and then $300 to have them coated (so all that work doesnt rust out in a year)...will be off the table.

Well I got back at it today/tonight in between when my son needed all my attention. (ie nap time).

I am pretty much ready for the thing to go in, just have to re-install the balancer (need tool) and then clean up and pretty up the intake manifold. And of course before firing it up it gets fresh oil, filter, thermostat, a good spinning with the starter without the coils and fuel injectors hooked up for priming...etc.
