OK, what's the real deal regarding the '67 GTX 440 dual snorkel air cleaners? Some cars I see for sale have them painted engine color (turquoise) and some are painted wrinkle black. Both are apparently correct? Is it a build date thing, or different assembly plants, or....?

Thanks.

I think the only turquoise one was in the magazine ads

I've seen some cars on the 'net ,and in person, with both air cleaners ,and the owners' say they're correct.

Just because something is in a magazine ad that doesn't mean its correct. The air cleaner should be black wrinkle finish, the air cleaner was turquoise in the one magazine ad to make it stand out. There are other ads with pulleys painted engine color and other odd things for artistic purposes only.

Unless someone has a picture of their 67 GTX brand new with the turquoise air clean I wont believe them because anyone I know that owned one new says theirs was black. And even if the factory made some with the turquoise air cleaner I dont know why anyone would do it because its the stupidest looking thing I've ever seen.
