1968 Coronet 500 Project

No idea what all that gibberish above is about lol. Could you swap the III out for a II? The II is not multispark nor does it have the rev limiter but works nice, have it on my 62 318 poly motor.

Yes, I did not fully understand that when I bought it.

Stopped by the chrome shop today for some quotes. There is a place in Tucson that many folks from Phoenix use (free pickup). Nice clean store front and nice guy. Specializes in auto restoration work. He liked the Coronet. $350 each for the bumpers, $60 each for the door handles and $22 each for the fender blinkers. All way cheaper than new after market! If I had tools I would have left the parts. Need to wait till after the holidays but she will be getting her chrome on soon!

Dang, thats good to know. I bit the bullet and ordered a rear bumper from AMD through Summit. It's backordered at the moment so if it doesn't come in soon I may cancel and drop off the front and back bumpers here.

Did you get your ignition straightened out?

Not gonna answer that just yet because you and Bill will mock me.

Bill you should get Threewood to do your dirty work and restore the rusty factory 440 4 speed GTX you found in town :)

Should have just built that glass room to keep her in :) As for the AMD bumpers, they should be fine for my driver considering cost of gas for driving my old ones to Tucson or shipping I will still be ahead...as long as they aren't oos forever.

Some Photo of some of the Mopars at Cop and Rodders last weekend, largest show in Southern Arizona. I was stunned my Coronet took 3rd in the Mopar class....

The kid with the White Charger was near me. That is a survivor out of Georgia. He and is buddies were treating it like us old farts would have in the day. Sitting on the trunk with feet on the bumper, leaning all over it......

This is how my 2 weeks have gone. 3rd in the largest show in Southern Az and 1st in Muscle (ok miniMuscle with the 318) today at a small show in Marana. Almost made a Chevy convert. He said he was a Chevy man but he REALLY liked the Coronet....

On the way back I drove through the Saguaro National Monument. Thank goodness for the AC, it is too hot in Tucson for a November day!

Glad you had a good time Jim. Kinda jealous, out in garage kinda trying to stay warm in Ohio.

You really shouldn't be surprised, you built a beautiful car.

Thanks, it would not win at a real show (points for this and that) but I built it to feel like it did back in the 80's when these cars were used and we would build our "hot rods" from them. It is fun when Mopar purists stop by. I know they have an inner struggle as they don't want to like it because it is "only" a 318 but it has enough interesting add ons (EFI) and the colors make them like it. A few trick items here or there, a bit of a custom paint job and some cool wheels. The color combo the wife picked just hits a spot with the public. If it were white and black like I wanted it would not get as much attention as it does now.
